Dead after 9 months

Had minor problems after about 4 months. Now at 9 months it has died. Ran hot most of the time but was good for the first 4 months. Can't afford to replace it every 4 months ( just out of warranty ) so will stay with the old Roku 2.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Noticeable improvement over Roku 2

Have had a Roku 2 for over a year and like it, but received the Roku 3 as a gift and did not expect any big difference. There is a huge improvement in processing power which makes everything simple work better and smoother. The 3 replaced the 2 in our main entertainment room; will keep the 2 for a second TV. All in all a very nice unit and definitely worth the upgrade.

Easy to use

I was afraid to even try this because I am not very savvy with computers and stuff, but it was so easy to set up I couldn't believe it. My only criticque it that frequently it freezes after I pause the show and I have to turn it off for a short time, then restart it. Then everything is fine, but it is an irritant that you can't pause a show more than once or twice. Besides that, I am thrilled with my ROKU.

I am not always an early adapter. The Roku broke that pattern for me. I bought my first Roku, the deluxe model with a USB port, as soon as it was available. I had heard a little bit about it and discussion on the Internet. Immediately I found it to be an asset. I have some favorites that I watch every week, but when in the mood for something different, Roku always provides. International news options, music, old radio shows, public domain movies and documentaries, the BBC as a streaming entertainment source, and others are in my regular lineup. I have found it worthwhile and a great valuefor the dollar spent.

Easy to setup, to stream....

Setting up the unit and streaming channels are no problem. Playing you own video on usb stick or network is very restrictive due to the limited video formats it could support. Avi is not supported which was a surprise to me. I have no success to use Twonky and Play To Roku channels yet. I will be nice if Xfinite TV Go and HBO To Go are supported.

One of my favorite features is that it searches every app for the movies you want
so you can see right away which available where and also which is cheapest if you are buying or renting. You don't have to open individual apps to search for what you want to watch. Also alot of aps to choose from. I tend to use one more than others but it

I have had ROKU for over a year and love. I have told all of my friends to drop cable and get ROKU. You can watch what you want when you want. Buy it, you won't be sorry. I h
