a little disappointed....

We got this for free not even knowing what it was and were excited when we thought it would be like an On Demand device. This ended when we realized that we had to pay for a lot of things. I still don't get the point of this product if you have the internet or On Demand with your current cable company.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I Love Roku

There have been quite a few times when the Roku has gone awry and I had to call or reset. Also, many times the program that is being streamed has video and audio issues such as the picture breaking up and the dialog being garbled.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought the streaming stick and had some problems initially which were worked
out. Available channels are good but I wish some adult channels like Hustler were
available.

I am on my second roku box. I purchased the first 6 months ago. As soon as I took it out of the box, there were problems with the HDMI connection. I couldn't get a clear picture without red dots all over the bottom of the screen. I immediately took it back to the retailer and exchanged it for a new box. I ha r had this player for 6 months. It has started doing the same thing. I cannot use it hooked through the HDMI port, it has gone bad. It isnt the HDMI cable, it is the port. I now must hook it up a different way. I am very upset because it truly is a great product, if there were no malfunctions. I can stream Netflix, amazon, crackle and YouTube through this, among many more. I just wish that it was made better. For me purchasing 2 boxes with the same issue is not so good for me as a consumer. Please fix, so someone else doesn't have the same problem.

Convenient, fast

I have a brand new "smart" TV, and the apps were so painfully slow that I decided to buy my third Roku. I've now had all three Roku versions, from the very first model, and this is by far the best. The apps on my PS3, too slow. Roku 2, still good. Roku 1, reserved for the guest room, and still working after many years. The Roku 3 means I never have to deal with the worthless apps on my TV again.

The Roku 3 is much more reliable than the first version of Roku I owned several years ago (one broke down repeatedly and finally died, and I had to purchase another one).

Too many issues

I had zero issues with my roku 1, so I wa surprised when the neat, new roku 3 had issues with the remote right out of the box. Roku needs to do a much better job of getting out in front of known issues by communicating with their customers about fixes that they know will be needed. Otherwise, Roku is just waiting for a customer to have to call in to customer support, and by that point they have already created a frustrated customer. Since you have customers' emails due to product registration or M-go sign up, why not email the customer about known issues and how to fix them immediately?!

Affordable and easy to use

Purchased to obtain a channel not available through other services. It works pretty good and remembers any additional account/ sign-on info for registered channels. We have no trouble with quality when it's working. That being said, we have had the Roku 3 freeze up about a dozen times in the last 6 months. Otherwise it's good.
