Fantastic device and compliments my MacMini

I bought the Roku 3 earlier this year for a secondary television, which I still have not unpacked. My MacMini died in April, and during the interim months it was our of action, I unpacked the Roku 3 and hooked it up to my primary home media center. As a streaming device, it really is just a fantastic little device. I recently got my MacMini back, installed it, missed the Roku 3 for pure streaming services, and hooked it up as well in tandem. The MacMini via XBMC handles my 14 TB of locally stored content, and the Roku is just not as intuitive UI-wise for such a large library of videos and music. But as a cable replacement (we ditched cable last weekend) it rocks and it is just a piece of cake to use. I will be buying one more for the secondary television.

Before You Buy Roku 3: Major Problem For Many

Roku 3 removed one important feature from the box that Roku 2 has - a separate audio outlet. Roku 3 has only HDMI. If you have surround sound that is separate from your display, you're out of luck. I found out after I purchased it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works great...much of the time

I have 2 Roku boxes. Got the first one something like 3 years ago. I use the Roku 3 most with a 46" Samsung TV and it does fine with streaming movies and segments of TV series much / most of the time. Occasionally, it just takes a break from doing what it should do and tells me my 25 mps connection is Fair, and then, essentially, refuses to download the program I'm watching. So, I check my internet speed and see that downloads register at 24.83. And my Ipad I'm using while watching TV does fine with its streaming duties. And then, I do all the stuff that the Roku site says to do and, eventually, I have an "excellent" signal again. So, I'm a bit flummoxed as to why (especially recently) the Roku streaming performance has fluctuated so dramatically. I expect that my wife and I are not overwhelming our internet bandwidth with our PC and tablets. A few weeks ago, I would have given it 5 stars, even with an occasional hiccup. Generally, I like both boxes a lot. I especially like having an earphone jack on the newest remote and rely on that to let me watch / listen to the TV without blasting the whole house. So, good idea! So, yes, I recommend it to others, and hope that the recent, periodic degradation of performance isn't a harbinger of "Roku failure".

Second Roku

I bought this Roku3 because of the headphone remote. It works great except I would that the batteries would last longer; that's why 4 instead of 5 stars. Still use the Roku 2 in the quest room and just bought a Roku Stick (HDMI) for travelling.

Couldn't be simpler

I had been streaming Netflix over my Sony BluRay player but quality of streaming got worse and worse. I had heard good things about Roku and bought the Roku 3. Literally took only a few minutes to set up following the guided instructions and streaming has NEVER been better. I would highly recommend Roku.

Just bought and installed the ROKU stick. Love it because it is radio frequency controlled and not IR. Channel changes, etc. can be made from all angles. Will move the older #2 unit to my TV in bedroom, which will suffice due to the shorter range.
The older unit is a bit "clunky" in its operation and the stick is worth the upgrade cost for intense use. I was wrong, apparently, in assuming that there is no problem in getting a paid venue for both ROKU's at one subscription price. This was the intent - to start a program in the living room and finish it up in the bedroom. Oh, well - it's worth it.
I am so satisfied with the first unit that I never considered the alternatives of Chrome, etc. when purchasing the second unit.

I bough this 1 month ago and now I can not use the remote.I try many ways as I read online to fix but the remote is still not work !!!
