Cannot shut down the Roku.

The performance is very good, but the down side is that the only way to shut the unit off is to remove the power cord. For that inconvenience it rates three stars.

Bought this 8 months ago and it's great to use....thousands of channels, what and when you want it. Would recommend to anyone who wants choices and control of what to watch.

I bought my ROKU because I wanted the flexibility of watching what I want to watch. Now I can easily switch back and forth between cable or ROKU depending on what I want to watch.

Works reliably, has many choices, a touch slow

My family has two of these units. They have been very reliable and support most major content providers (Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon, and too many others to list). The remote works well. The unit seems a bit slow when going from content service to content service, but much of this may be due to Internet response time. Global searching is a bit strange, perhaps because it depends on the information in each provider's database. Streaming has seldom been a problem.
My main problems are with myself (too picky about content) and with content providers (despite all the titles available, many older movies don't seem to be available).

I would like to tell you what I feel would make the Roku a more friendly TV watching experience.
1. I would like an area preferably on the left hand side and not a channel where I can have a repository of shows and movies that I "favorite" from different sources. For instance if I favorite several shows on Hulu and some shows on Netflix and some on PBS I would like to see all those shows in one place. This would make browsing for favorite shows much easier instead of having to remember which service provides it. This is a huge step toward integration.
2. One feature that we miss most from satellite/cable is channel surfing. We would like to be able to search for more content to watch while our show continues to play in the corner somewhere. Currently when you are watching something and decide to look for something else it turns off what you are watching and that really kills the TV watching experience.
3. Lastly we would like to connect the over-the-air antenna directly to the Roku so as not to have to change the input on the TV.
I think these 3 things will go a long way toward making for a more pleasant TV watching experience.
MyMedia channel supports many more video formats than the built in USB and it's free
