Definite upgrade over the Roku 2

The closed captioning is a great addition when you cannot turn up the volume. I also use the headphone feature especially when listing to music. The rest of the house can sleep while I can have the volume as loud as I want. I can even go from room to room up to a point (about 25 to 30 feet) and have full volume. Almost as good as a DVR for instant replay.
Since I got this device, I seldom use a blu-ray player after loading most of my disks to a Ultraviolet library. Only drawback is the lack of 3D playback on VUDU.

I have had my Roku 3 for almost a year now, and it has been wonderful! I "cut the cord," and I don't even miss my cable! I have saved a lot of money, and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. There are lots of useless and random channels, but I just ignore those and use the ones that appeal to me. My favorites are Amazon Prime, The Mormon Channel, PBS kids, and NBC news.

Worked great for about 6 months.once in awhile have to reset. Now LAN port not working but wifi still does.

The Roku 3 is one of the best entertainment investments I have made. I have more free movies and TV shows available to watch than is remotely healthy for me. When you throw in subscriptions, well, I'm glad I have one on the TV in front of my treadmill.

Amazon, YouTube and Plex

A low-power, tiny device that works so well the whole family has no complaints (we use the wired connection over our 1Gb cabled house LAN). We watch Amazon (both Prime and Instant), YouTube (Roku is much more reliable than the YouTube embedded agent in our major-brand Smart TV), and our own collection via Plex.
Plex is server software (purchased) running on another low-power always-on W7 server on the same LAN with our MP4 movies, FLAC/MP3 music, etc. There's some conformance / organization necessary for your collection (like most DLNA products), but for that trouble you get a simple and reliable Roku agent that shows what you have in various, helpful ways. Plex was so good we bought a 2nd Roku 3 (and maybe we'll get a third).
Would still like: 1) our cable provider, with which we have HBO, doesn't let our HBO Go account operate over Roku, and 2) a Roku agent that would allow viewing TV from a Silicondust HDHomeRun Prime device.

Fantastic Streaming Device

I bought this device over a year ago and I am still very impressed with it. It was incredibly easy to setup, and since that first day I haven't had to repeat any of those steps. The best streaming device on the market!
