Great little device

I cancelled my cable subscription and switched to local channels only plus my Roku. I have Hulu Plus that I play through Roku and they have plenty of other channels for free. Setting it up is a breeze, all ports are straightforward. Just plug it in and enter your account and voila. The user interface is a BIG improvement from the Roku2, you can see more channels and get to it with fewer clicks rather than scrolling on each channel one at a time. I've been eyeing a wireless headset for a while now so I can watch late night without disturbing my neighbor. I LOVE that they added an earphone plug in the remote. I also installed the Roku App on my Android phone and I'm able to use that as a remote. The Android app uses voice recognition and I can start any channel without any clicks but just by saying the channel. Pros: User interface is snappy and intuitive. Remote's earphone plugin. Small footprint Clear picture without any lag (I'm connected via LAN, so I don't know about wireless) Voice Recognition on the Android App Cons: No channel search. If you added a lot of channels in your box, you still need to find the one you want by scrolling through your list. I wish they added something like "Search your channels" capability. No YouTube

Not sure why, but my new Roku has been nothing but unplug / replug because of freezing.
Pros: Attractive Design
Cons: Freezing Reboot, Does Not Improve Audio/Video

Roku 3 .......Wow!

First I have to say I am somewhat of a tech geek...I have or have had all the gadgets within financial reach. I was one of the first to purchase the Logitech Revue because it was such a great concept...if only it worked like it was supposed to! I have 3 tvs in my man cave, two hooked to Comcast hd boxes, and one to a xbox360 which has xbox live on it, so I could stream the ESPN channels on that tv. I have the Roku 3 hooked up to my main tv (55" Vizio), and while I have only had the unit up and running since last night....I haven't had any sleep yet! I have Amazon Prime so the Amazon app works like a charm on the Roku 3, much better than the app on the Vizio tv, or not at all from the Logitech Revue. It is very responsive and the 1080 picture just looks great. I probably have 8 devices in this room which can stream Netflix, but not like the Roku 3 can.....the response time is great, the video and audio is great....needless to say I am impressed. Good job guys....you have done your homework....I am sold!

We love the Roku. We just upgraded to the Roku 3 from the Roku XDS. The upgrade was worth the cost as the 3 is much faster and has more options.

So many problems...

The first one that we bought was not working, it has some flickering problems. I brought back to Best Buy and took another one that was (initially) working. Then, the remote sometimes is not working or disconnect from the device (I went on line for suggestion in how to solve and I found it's a common problem). Some others times it loses connection to the wi-fi, who knows why: simply going to the network setup, and trying a couple of times it will reconnect (we have others devices using the same wi-fi and we do not have any problem). Other times it stop and we have to restart the device. Honestly we are relocating in a temporary house, and we decide to keep it because it's the only way we have to entertain our daughter, but it's horrible. We have an apple TV and we never ever had this problem. As soon as we enter in the new house and unload the POD I think I will throw away this device.
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup

R3 Remote rarely works. Frustrated!

I'm incredibly disappointed with the R3 remote. I continues to get un-synced and we've struggled from the beginning. The R3 would be a brick if I didn't have the R3 app on my phone... but when I'm gone, the family can rarely use it. Very disappointed in the R3. Wish I would've purchased the original.

Look wise device looks cool and has many features like usb,microSD, etc... But it comes to its performance is very bad. The device hangs every time .I.e. minimum 3-4 times in a day and need to be powered off and restart to start working... I would recommend not to go for this device by spending $100

Bought roku-3 (4/21/13. Easy hook up great features. Especially the remote head set. How ever after five month remote quit working . Remote pairing worked ok but only for 1 or 2 hours. tech help was very helpful, but now have to use my 2 year old remote with out ear phones. No WARRANTY ?
