I've owned my Roku3 for a year and a half and I enjoy the variety of free programming available. Set up is easy. New free channels come along fairly often, but I already have some favorites. Once you buy the device, there's never another bill and you don't have to sign up for anything. Bad TV reception with your antenna? No problem. Tired of cable bills for channels you don't watch? Get a Roku and start watching Crackle.

The hardest part of getting started with Roku is just signing up with Netflix or other providers. Setting up Roku only takes minutes.

Yes it is a great device... but the only thing I got a problem with is the remote work half the time.... but luckily I downloaded the remote on my phone and that works great

I had the Roku 2 for a a couple of years and several months ago upgraded to the Roku 3. I've also had Apple TV for as long as I've had a Roku. I use Apple TV to stream content from my iMac and iPad to the TV but I find myself using Roku for just about everything else, Netflix, Vudu, PBS etc. Having said that, the Roku is not without it's problems. Frequently it's unresponsive and I have to reboot it. This happens every week or so. I don't have that problem with Apple TV. When it works it's great.

We were given the Roku 2 last year for christmas and loved it. However, the slow speed prompted us to decide to buy the Roku 3 despite being mostly happy with the 2. The Three runs too hot and needs to be reset multiple times because of it's tendency to go "purple screen." This thing makes my spouse very frustrated. The speed is not worth the difficulty of usage.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Fantastic Alternative to Cable

I love this player and am so glad I got rid of cable. A ton of content to watch unlike cable which is just a bunch of reruns. The only downside is that I'm a news junkie and some of the programs I want to watch won't play, i.e. Stossel on Fox Business - not sure why, but this is a minor inconvenience.
