Roku is it! Any negative reviews I have read on these have been from confused people who don't understand what they are buying. The lack of audio out on the Roku 3 for instance - it's HDMI - full 1080P video and audio. If your receiver or TV does not do audio pass-through or HDMI switching, then you have the wrong device. Read the specs before you buy and you won't be disappointed. Also if you expected to get Netflix or any other pay service for free, then you missed the point as well. The headphone jack and wi-fi and RF use in the remote is genius. Also if you don't have PLEX yet, get it and you can turn your Roku into a streaming media player for all your content!! I now have access to all my content on any device, including my Roku. This is simply one of the best inventions of our time - Nicely done Roku!!! Very nicely done.

Huge upgrade from Roku 1st generation!

The Roku 3 is a major step up from the original Roku 1000 series. I was on the fence about upgrading, but it was well worth it! One of the best new features is how fast the FF and Rewind functions are now compared to the first generation. Overall, much faster, cleaner, easier to use interface, and all in a smaller footprint. About the only negative I can find is that it is so lightweight, that it sometimes doesn't want to sit flat, as the weight of the HDMI cable is enough to keep it from sitting flat on the TV stand or shelf. If you have a first generation Roku, and are on the fence, don't hesitate, it's worth the upgrade!
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Ff And Rewind, Fast Setup, Improved User Interface

Works great. I watch Netflix, WatchESPN, Youtube, and the Time Warner TWC app. No complaints with the Roku 3. Just one thing, though, you need to have a good router. I own a Roku 3 and a Roku LT. I had used the Roku LT for some time with my old router, which supports 802.11g and it worked fine with that old router. When I got the Roku 3, I found it was constantly "loading please wait..." on WatchESPN and my Time Warner app. So I purchased a new router, the Netgear Nighthawk Wireless AC router. It has two bands and so I put the Roku 3 on the 5 GB band. Now it works great! No "loading please wait..." messages anymore. I'm totally satisfied.

Best Streaming Device - Ever!

I have to admit that I have purchased four different brands of multifunction and streaming devices (BluRay + Streaming Content) None seemed to be consistant. All were slow interfaces. None did Netflix well. Then I decided to give that little box (Roku 3) a try. I wasn't expecting much. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! First, it's fast and smooth. I can be up and in Netflix in 4 seconds on my system, starting with everything off! All the other devices would take over a minute. And that was just getting to the main menu. Then I would still have to start Netflix, taking another 30-45 seconds. Second, there's tons of content! I know other reviewers are complaining about channels with ads, and channels that go away, but I don't think they realize that is the channel provider's responsibility, not Roku! The remote is awesome for what it does. Earphones, game controller, RF instead of IR... But I too had a little issue with the keyboard/text entry method. Until I realized I could download the app to make my smartphone into a remote, giving me the ability to use its keyboard, bluetooth, or speech recognition for entry! I also wanted to be able to stream my home network's content, and thought I'd have to do without, until I realized I could do that too, with one of the channels, Plex! After setting up the Plex server on my home PC, I was able to access all my content as I wished! I love my Roku!
Pros: Attractive Design, Simple Controls, Fast Setup

I had been using a Sony BluRay player I purchased in December 2012 to access internet TV. There were problems with Hulu Plus and occasionally with NetFlix. Instability was the major concern. Prior to ordering the Roku 3 I reinstalled my 2010 Roku to see if there would be a difference. Even the older Roku performed much better than the BluRay player, reinforcing my belief that multifunction items rarely perform well in all function. When the Roku 3 arrived it took just a couple of minutes to install. It was a major improvement, particularly in HiDef 1080 mode. The picture on my 47" HiDef TV is gorgeous and stable. The remote works instantaneously from any angle. I consider the money spent on the Roku 3 to be the best I have spent in quite a while.
Even though I am not very tech-savvy, I easily and quickly set up my new Roku 3 and watched a movie the same night. Putting the components together and plugging them in took less than three minutes. Entering all the info using the onscreen keyboard took a little longer, but I found it to be user-friendly and easy to understand. The options are great. There's a lot to choose from. HD still impresses me every time I see it: the movie I watched dated from 1959 and it was sharp and clear. Perhaps my favorite aspect of the Roku 3 is its size. As a studio dweller, for several years I have been refusing to add any new electronics to my collection, simply because there is no room for them. But, there's room for the Roku 3! It's about the size of a large hamburger, and I love it!
Pros: Easy to set up, High quality picture, Compact, Easy to use, Built in Wi-Fi

I use this all the time. It was as easiest device I've ever bought and setup. Simply plug it in, connect it to your TV, and follow the on screen instructions. I'm a stickler for details and very picky about audio/video devices. The menus, picture quality, and technical abilities of this little device are amazing. I'm a big Amazon and Netflix watcher, but the the streaming function is huge and needs to be advertised on the website. It has a USB port that will play file from a external hard drive. If I could give this thing more stars I would. Thanks for an amazing product Roku!
Pros: Simple Controls, Attractive Design, Improved Audio/Video, Fast Setup
