I have been using Roku products almost since their inception, and I have used many other different streaming products and by far the Roku 3 is the best. The unit comes in a nicely packed box, with everything you need to get started streaming video - the unit itself is pretty cute. The instructions are clear, which is not always true with other products. In order to activate the Roku 3 you need to register it and during this process a credit card is required, I don't really like that. I love the new remote with the built in headphone jack; this alone made the product worth having. As for the product itself, it is smaller then my other Roku, runs a lot cooler, paints the bit map that shows the show faster, and streams content very fast. The "scale-up", which is what I call the process of starting the show in the lowest resolution and then improving with time, takes a little time to get used to. But this makes starting and scanning a show very fast, I just wish there was a way to see at what resolution the show is currently steaming at. I am not a big gamer but using the new remote to play Angry Birds with was cool. A surprise to me is that my remote from my original Roku worked with the Roko 3. I use the wired method, so I did not use the wireless on this box, on another older Roku box I use the wireless which works fine. Overall, I think the Roku 3 is a great value for the price.
Pros: Compact, Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use, High quality picture, Great value, Easy to set up

I love this device. I stream my Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime, Crackle, 3ABN and a whole lot more. Not only that; I have movies saved on my hard drive that I can connect and watch (thanks to the ever so convenient USB port). Also, I love the headphone jack in the remote. No longer do I have to struggle to watch a movie while the family is making noise in the background. NB: Unfortunately though, the use of the headphones does reduce the remote's battery life though (so I use it sparingly).
All in all, the Roku 3 is a complete multimedia center for me.
Pros: A complete streaming multimedia center. Sleek/Small/Compact Headphone Jack in the remote USB port
Cons: Extended headphone use, reduces the remote's battery life. Wish the device would support more media file formats (when played from USB port).

Get out there and cut the cord!

Before the Roku 3, my only experience with Roku was a first generation box that I bought for my parents so they would have access to netflix. I wasn't particularly impressed with the clunky interface and it was slow to load and buffer the videos. I usually stick with apple products, but the ATV is just too limiting in terms of programming. And since cutting the CableTV cord, I thought I'd give the new Roku 3 a shot. First off, it's significantly faster than the original Roku. All the screen animations are snappy and the new interface is very easy to maneuver. The choices in channels are comprehensive of most everything you'd find on the web, especially when you look at the list of private channels out there. I thought it was going to be difficult to add a private channel, I've had to hack my ATV with a USB stick to get unsupported content on there, but with the Roku it's as easy as just getting the channel code and putting that into a browser. The remote is pretty basic. It serves it's purpose. It's RF which is nice not having to point the remote at the device. I use a Harmony universal, so it was nice to find out that there is IR built in and the codes from the old remotes still work. My last requirement is to be able to play media from my home network. And the Plex channel is perfect for this. Plex on the Roku is much faster than the Plex/Media player client on my LG TV. Overall I'm very happy with the Roku 3. It might be time to upgrade my parents first generation unit.
Pros: Simple to use, Very fast, Small, Fast Setup
Cons: Entering Text, No Streamingairplay, No Streaming Or Airplay

I was skeptical because I do not subscribe to Netflix and I have some features on my blu ray, but there is so much more on this device!! I have Time Warner, movie channels and HBO. I can watch all of these on my bedroom tv without a cable box in HD. On a tech note- user interface is well designed and the device is really fast. Headphones on the remote are awesome. Can watch college basketball while my wife sleeps.
Pros: Easy to use, Easy to set up

We bought this to access Netflix and it has proved to be much more. The amount of channels available it mind boggling. This works well even with our ATT DSL.

I use my Roku mainly to watch tv shows that I miss because of my hectic work/home schedule. The menus are easy to navigate and the variety of channels is extensive enough that it would hard to believe that anyone could go through all the media content that's available at once. My only somewhat negative experience with Roku has to do with the random resets that happen right after the screen freezes. These are not common, but unfortunately, they happened to me during my small showcase session of the product to some of my friends. These resets although inconvenient at times, they are a better alternative than requiring users to press the button themselves.
Pros: Attractive Design, Simple Controls, Versatility, Fast Setup
