Replacement for initial ROKU player

Had an initial product ROKU and this ROKU 3 was replacement for high resolution productions. Simple unit. Simple installation. Simple interface to operate. I prefer this over my Apple player. Visible benefits of processor power in imaging, depth of buffering memory, and for the audio tracks reproduction.
I don't do games or cartoons so I can offer no insight.
My concern with streaming players is that the bandwidth to download high-resolution shows, particularly a season's, forces one to increase tiers of network service and saturates your local WiFi network and router. House of Cards, for example, is cheaper on blu-ray media if you do a full engineering trade study.
Only "desirement" is that none of these players has been yet to effectively break the strangle hold of Cable or Satellite TV. Episodic programs, whether from broadcast TV or specialty channels is dramatically delayed for a season or more. 600 channels of 96% reruns on CAB/SAT and this competitive segment is still offering stale programming, too.

Got it for Acorn, and haven't been disapointed

We have had the Roku 3 for several months now. We got it because it was one of the few devices where we can get Acorn (British television). The Roku has performed very well, and is amazingly quick (no long wait times for our show to start streaming). We have been very happy with our Roku 3!

I upgraded from a Roku 2 HD to Roku 3. I can definitely appreciate the speed of buffering and also the overall navigation speed. I love the design and I especially love that Youtube is now available on Roku (It was badly missing earlier)

I use it every day and it hasn't let me down. i don't have cable and i hate app that need one to get accept into the site. my cable company not on the list. no off button would be nice lol

A Snap to Set Up

I am a non-techie...but the Roku 3 was very easy to set up. I just followed the instructions on the TV screen and, presto, a great selection of movies, documentaries, live concerts, etc. If you get stuck anyway, Roku has an excellent, easily accessible help desk.
