I use it to catch my slingbox. the only problem i have found. is at some motels the wifi is not password protected but the internet is.Roku connects to the wifi and thinks all is good but there is no option to enter motel password (first browser page).
I would recommend this to a friend!

Roku 3 disappointing

I like the Roku 3's speed and software but unfortunately 6 months after purchasing the Ethernet and WiFi quit working so it won't connect to a network which makes it useless. Reliability seems to be an issue with Roku devices. I have owned 5 Roku devices and the Roku 3 isn't working and the Roku 2 keeps power cycling.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I thought I could live with Vizio's VIA... Wrong! We have two TVs and two Roku 3s. That says a lot, right? The features and the user interface are great. We love the channel choices which are endless. Setup is easy. Roku 3 rocks!

Love the interface, but channel availability.....

I love the layout of the interface, it is clean, concise and easy to understand. It's easy to set up - anyone should be able to do it with no assistance and in just a few minutes.
My only complaint is NOT the fault of the actual device but that of what is available and how you access it. Yes, I know its not cable - but in order to use this you have to know exactly what you want to watch. It is like hunting down videos online instead of "live" TV. I tend to watch a lot of national news programs and those channels are nothing more than clips (30 seconds to 4 minutes) of certain shows - how do I know I want to watch a clip of a news story unless I have prior knowledge of it and to watch each clip is a long tedious process.
I would prefer more LIVE streaming shows - in their entirety. I purchased our Roku 3 along with an OTA antenna with the hopes of giving up cable - so far I haven't. I find it tedious to have to hunt down each news clip opposed to watching the entire news hour as one long show. Also, the series I do watch..well you have to wait for several days for the "new" episodes to show up in order to watch them. I realize there would be some inconvenience but unlike just sitting down to watch a show, you have to plan what show you want to watch - start up ROKU, attempt to find what channel it runs on and WHERE you might find it - Amazon videos, NetFlix, Hulu etc...AND some of the channels/shows you can't see UNLESS you have a cable subscription with that channel - kind of defeats the purpose.
So, purchase a ROKU if you want an extension of YouTube, video clips or a way to access NetFlix etc. other than your smart TV, but if you want it as I did; as a way to cut the HUGE cable bills.. so far it really isn't to that point yet - maybe with time..I guess it boils down to a lack of convenience.

Too much choice for too little serious content

bought it basically to see what was live TV yesterday or the day before so i could get rid of cable TV......what it really does is give you what was live TV last season...and .lots of movie channels if that's what you really want...good for someone that isn't interested in current shows.....

I love this... I don't have cable at all any longer. Do I miss it... NOPE! I do have a high def. antenna, so I get lots of local channels for free! Roku adds to many different viewing venues.

Should have bought an Apple

This is my second Roku 3. The first one got every channel except Netflix, which is the channel I watch the most. Same problem with the second Roku. I get Netflix on my wireless Blue ray, and every other wireless device. I will not be buying a third Roku.
