I bought this about a month ago and am still scanning through all of the channels. I recommend good wifi. The only downfall is that some channels break to upload a lot and I would believe that is because of the wifi that I have not because of the Roku. I am really enjoying watching channels that I no longer have to pay for and the ones that I do pay for cut the cost of what I use to pay direct tv down to almost nothing. I would recommend this to everyone who would like to cut their cable or direct tv and actually pay for only the channels that you want to watch, but don't get me wrong, there are a great number of channels that are totally free! I have told many of my friends about Roku!

NOTHING IS FREE!

For Christmas our kids bought my wife and I Roku 2 units. The set up is easy although it does take some effort to log in passwords, names, etc. It was then we realized that all the 'free' movie sites have nothing but grade Z movies. Even A&E, PBS, and Smithsonian don't have complete shows-just three or four minute segments. We have Amazon Prime but the majority of the shows are rentals. Roku claims to have thousands of movies and shows - just read the fine print - Roku will cost you big bucks.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Pointless

If you have cable, a smart tv, computer or a gaming system Roku is pointless. It gives you access to the SAME programs available on these devices. In other words you still need to have a subscription to access the programs (Netflix, Amazon, etc.). I purchased because I thought that it would at least give you free access to some programs but nope.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Many sound / audio issues with Dolby Digital 5.1 and also usb playback has no sound with mkv files

EASY TO USE

I originally owned a Roku 2 and was very happy with it. I replaced it with the Roku 3 because it came with ear buds. I only wish it was easier to enter email addresses and passwords. It takes forever to find the letters. Other than that , I love it. Great product!

Best Christmas present this year

Been looking for a streaming since the smart DVD player has always been unreliable. Roku definitely the best choice giving us the most options, including for young kids. Very fast and reliable.

Given to me as a gift and enjoy it very much. It has enabled me to tell my Cable company to Go Away ! I can watch what i want, when I want is the best part. After having Cable TV and watching the garbage they throw at me, it is now a relief and a huge savings.

Love my Roku

One feature I love on Roku is the Acorn Channel. I watch the British programs and it makes me feel like I am home again.!!!Even had on Lilies which was about Liverpool.. my home town! I have the Roku 2 but am thinking of upgrading it to the 3
