I love almost everything about it. Wish streaming from my PC would work without applications like PLEX.

I own 4 ROKU's in my house. Haven't had pay TV in over 7 years. I pay what I want to watch, and subscribe to internet services that provide far better TV viewing that any broadcast, cable or satellite can even think of providing. Why pay for 100's of channels you don't watch? ROKU is the answer for the intelligent TV viewer.

the only thing wrong with the 3 is if the tv is turned off the roku has to be reset to come on. other than that its great

I have a Roku 3, and a Roku 1. I would say: spend the extra money and get the three. It works will with a free Plex server. There are hundreds of channels available, but they are not worth much. The Roku is very easy to set up, and use. Rokus are inexpensive relative to the astronomical cost of cable.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've had Roku DVP's from the N1000 (purchased back in 2008) on and now have a roku 3 as well as a hdmi stick, and current model Roku 1. The Roku 3 is the best of the best! Lots of content besides the top players and the top players - Netflix, Hulu, Warner Archive, etc work best on the 3, a vast improvement over the older players and even current models. If you're thinking of getting the HDMI stick I suggest the 3 instead, as it's a much smoother experience due to the faster processor, if you can afford the extra $40 - 50, depending on where you buy it.
