Looked good to start

I bought the Roku 3 mainly because I wanted to watch HBOGO. I was unable to do so. after I set it up I had to contact Roku, and was told some of the channels they offer you can only get with a subscription to cable. So why own it if I still have to have cable. It's been returned.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Pros and Cons

I previously owned 2 Roku HD's before purchasing the Roku 3. I love all of the feature that Roku has to offer. I love that I can select to subtitle certain titles when the dialog is difficult to understand. There are so many channels to choose from I still haven't gotten through all of them 3 years later. The remote is comfortable to use. I love that the Roku takes up little to no space because of it's compact size. I rarely lose wifi connection and usually if I do it has something to do with my ISP.
The Roku 3 has some new features that are awesome as well. I love that I can put in head phones to watch TV late at night and not disturb my boyfriend while he sleeps. I like the new set-up on screen when you enter Netflix. There is now a new feature when you want to subtitle your movie, you can arrow down while still watching your title and turn on/off subtitles w/o exiting your program to do so.
Only a couple drawbacks-
If you watch a lot of TV like I do and you use the headphones frequently (like 4+ hours a day) the batteries die in your remote really quickly.
Also, the subtitle option doesn't always work. Sometimes, I have to exit my program (and sometimes the entire channel) to get the subtitles to work.
One last thing, and I am not sure if this is a Netflix issue or a Roku issue, but when scrolling through titles in Netflix they are no longer numbered so you can simply remember what number the title was you passed rather than scrolling forever back and forth looking for something you wanted to see, previously while browsing.
In conclusion- Roku is awesome! I have turned so many of my friends onto it that most people I know gave up on costly cable prices! Hooray!

Roku just keeps getting better.

We bought this Roku as a replacement for our first-generation box. Which I must say was still going strong--it just lacked a lot of features that the newer boxes provide. Very happy with everything about the new one.

I purchased this over a year ago, and am very happy with the device. Only improvement would be an actual "OFF" Switch on the remote - always on wastes power and interferes with my HDMI switch.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love Streaming Movies

This roku is just great! We have signed up with Acorn so we can access British mysteries. The ear buds turn the sound off for anyone else, so I don't bother the spouse. Just great!

My Roku experience

Roku 3 is an excellent device. The menu graphics are great and the remote control is very simple to use. The feature that allow you to connect headphones on the remote is a great and convenient idea too. The fact that You Tube can be reached from Roku add a vital missing piece in the Roku puzzle.
The only thing I deslike is the fact that in recent weeks the sounds and music in You Tube sounds somehow in a high pitched fashion . I mean the music sound like "acelerated". If some people of roku have the chance to explain me why this happens please contact me. The last thing I think would going to complement the product is the capability of browse Google or internet in general. Other video streamers have that function. I recomend this product. Thanks!

There should be an easier way to get channelsother than having to go to the internet and fill out a form and give your credit card for each one.. beware free is not necessarily free.
