Skip the SmartTV - Roku destroys it

Thinking that the convenience of of an all-in-one solution was the way to go, I selected a Samsung Smart TV to stream the biggies - HULU, Netflix, YouTube. Big mistake. I'm not sure if the hardware isn't up to snuff or what, but the experience on the TV was horrible. Slow UI, limited flexibility, and worst, poor streaming performance, with drop-outs, pauses, etc. We have a solid internet service and I use gigabit wired connections for everything important.
Enter the Roku 3. Awesome variety of channels but most importantly, epic performance. Streams start quickly and are rock solid. We've purchased them for all the TVs in our home. Personally, I prefer this over solutions from companies that are also content providers (Apple, Amazon) which always get me nervous in that they have their own incentives for what streams they support.
The audio jack on the remote is also brilliant!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Roku 3 the BEST!

It's now been several months since we purchased our Roku 3 ,, and our family is delighted, best money we ever spent. Yes, it's a different way of watching TV! There are no or limited commercials, and that is challenging to get use to, after one has been bombarded with intrusively loud commercials for years!
Our Roku has frozen up a couple of times, but re-set is fast and simple. If your already paying for high speed internet this Roku 3 will enhance one's TV watching experience. My husband is a sports fan, and while we saved up money to buy a decent TV antenna he stayed up to date on all the scores from the free Sports programs.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easy to connect, Lots of Entertainment

I purchased the ROKU to get away from cable charges. I enjoy the low price of the channels I chose and the lack of commercials. I am not an electronics genius, in yet the ROKU was easy for me to install.

Fast and responsive but lacks one handy feature

I love my Roku. It essentially helped our family get rid of cable. It has hundreds of channels and we can subscribe to shows or services we want pretty quickly with it.
My only complaint is that it lacks one handy feature: you can't mirror other devices to it very easily. With all the apps and "channels" out there, you'd think this was an easy solution, but it isn't.
There are things like R-Cast & Plex, but none of them really work well with streaming video on a laptop. I wish Roku came out with a browser app that essentially allows users to do the same thing that Chromecast does. I want to be able to sling material from my mac laptop to my Roku, but simply can't.
I would even pay for the app! But unfortunately all the apps and software currently out there don't really work the way I'd expect them to.
Hopefully it won't be long until Roku adds that feature.

So Many Options!

I have only had the Roku 3 for about a month. I am still exploring the different options that I have with this device. I had an Apple Tv device that my son had given me - but this has so-o-o-o-o much more. I love it!

Great but wears down

I love my roku! I tell everyone they should get it. The only thing I dislike is the fact that the roku wears down quickly. This is my 2nd roku within a year; I didn't have to purchase two...it was a replacement. Even now with the new one its starting to slow down and there are green pictures while it's trying to load. Even with that said I still love it.
