Hoped for better

Device does not find a signal unless the modem is in the same room. All other devices I own have no problem, no matter where I am in the home.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Roku 3 helps you cut the cable/dish cord

I have both a Roku 2 and now a Roku 3 and I can tell you both are excellent. The Roku 3 is faster, and has YouTube, but unlike the Roku 2, no RCA or S-video output, so you are limited to an hdmi TV. (Not a problem for me.) Both have Hulu, Amazon Prime and Netflix available (fees apply) and the largest assortment of free and paid channels available on any device. (covering all sorts of interests including movies, sports, weather, religion, old time tv, horror... the list goes on and on.) The Roku 3 also has a place on the remote for earphones, which work great. You won't regret this purchase.

Poor Video Quality

I owned this unit for a few months and was not happy with it. Everything on it worked well, the WiFi, setup, UI, remote, and speed. The one major flaw it had was playing video. When playing HD the video would jitter slightly on a regular basis. This would get aggravating and take any enjoyment away from whatever was being watched. I returned mine under an extended warranty.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Now considering dropping satellite. ROKU and Over the Air antennae became part of our plan after seeing all that they have to offer in their own way. The cost savings are huge. And viewing options are equal or better. We won't go back!
