Love this little gadget!

This little set-top box changed the way I watch TV forever. I no longer use subscriptions to cable or satellite companies. I love that I can use my Amazon Prime subscription and my Netflix subscription to get SO much content for so little. I love plugging in my USB drive and playing my own collection as well as streaming from a media server.
My only gripe is that when I stream 1080p, my unit gets too hot and shuts down occasionally. Most of my stuff is at 720p, so it's not a huge red flag, but I was surprised and annoyed to see this happen. I used to have a Netgear NEOtv that did the same thing. My Roku 2 xs never overheated, so I'm not sure what is different about this unit.

Great Little Device

I bought this for my living room tv because my son and I enjoyed watching Netflix and other channels on my Roku 2 XS in my bedroom and I just had to get one for my tv downstairs and the games are great too. This is a great device and it's so small it doesn't take up much room either. Setup was so easy. Thank You so much, keep up the good work.

I bought it almost a year ago and I love it. I have no cable bill this was a great investment. I also bought one for my boyfriend for christmas and he also loves it.

Poor local streaming and format support

I purchased a Roku 3 because it was supposed to be quick, stable, support popular channels (Netflix, Hulu, misc sports, etc.), and had finally been given DLNA support for the playback of local media. While the speed and channel support are fine, I find the networking is somewhat buggy, and the DLNA is certainly not ready for prime time, not playing many formats, often freezing the unit, and with a particularly unfriendly interface. There is no reason for a modern media device to not have full and proper DLNA/UPNP support, of any modern audio/video format, without stability issues.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good Little Box

I purchase the Roku after I had enough with the high cost of cable. I love it! I do wish they had the controls on the Roku itself because I'm always loosing the remote control. Or maybe they can just add a find button on the Roku so that when I loose the remote I can press the find button just like I do with my cordless phone. Also, the best feature on the remote is that you can plug in a pair of head phone and you have you on wireless headsets.

Roku 3 is fantastic. All my channels are available right at my finger tips. My head phones plug right into my controller and so I have it all in one place. I found the batteries in the controller last longer if you unplug the head phones when not in use.

I was given the roku as a gift and had no idea what it was or what it did. I love being able to watch Netflix and Hulu Plus. I also am able to watch my YouTube channel of old family movies on my TV through the roku. I also can watch my TV shows the next day after they air. I don't need to pay for cable. It's been fantastic!!
