My Roku is saving me money (I cut the cord) and changing my viewing habits from "TV for the brain dead" to "I get to choose what I watch, minus four minutes of commercials at each half hour".

Better than before, but Amazon Fire beats quality

With the purchase of a 65" High Definition TV set, the newer Roku is a lot better than the older versions. And the channel selections are great. But the Amazon Fire is heads and shoulders in quality of streaming and high definition. Many of the Roku channels buffer down the stream speed which reduces the quality of high definition. Amazon Fire has it's own hard drive and ram memory to take into account any reduced buffering. While Amazon Fire is still adding more channels, for the serious addict - you really need BOTH devices (Roku plus Amazon Fire) on a multi-input of the big screen TV set. I am happy with both, and am always using Amazon Fire for Netflix and Amazon Prime channel, as well as several news channels.

This Roku 3 frees one from the tyranny of the cable providers. One can almost cut the cable except for access to the local news programs. I am very pleased and surprised at the number of programming choices available although some of them insist on feeding you only short segments of programming interrupted by commercials that one cannot fast-forward through. That's not a Roku issue however. The Roku works flawlessly.

Audio Channel

With netflix via Roku there is no dolby 5.1...only stereo...netflix claims it is an incompatiblity with roku v netflix coding...I can get the dolby 5.1 by getting netflix on my home theater directly...a few more steps to accomplish, but dolby 5.1 is worth the effort.

I can't say enough good things about my Roku 3, it is super fast compared to previous models and does everything I could ever ask and more.
The headphone jack on the remote is amazing, this lets me watch tv in bed while my wife is sleeping. Of course my own reactions to the show I am watching is still a problem. Goo norte dame fighting irish! hah!
