Really enjoy this alternative to cable

I was paying over $100 for cable. I purchased my ROKU and have been very pleased. There is such a variety of programing to choose from which I enjoy. Recommend it for anyone who wants to cut ties with expensive cable.

The only thing that dampers my opinion is the lack of an on and off switch. It heats up and sometimes causes interruptions when streaming. I have to turn everything off and then back on for it to work properly every now and then.

I like my original Roku better

I'm pretty sure getting the Roku 3 is what triggered the new layout for Netflix since my old Roku still shows the old layout. I installed the old Roku on another TV and it didn't change the Netflix layout.
I can't turn off autoplay and I can't read the white letters on the black screen. I've put the TV as close to me as possible (three feet) and I even got new glasses (not because of the problem). Nothing helps. I never know what episode I'll be watching next and if I want to tune in to another show, I have to very quickly push the back button to navigate off the page.
I'm giving the Roku 3 a four star rating only because I can't prove that it changed the layout on me. Otherwise, I would have given it a three star rating.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Range but questionable Earbuds

I bought the Roku 3 in hopes that it would have better range and I also liked the idea of being able to use earbuds to listen in bed without disturbing my wife's sleep. The range is great! It reaches up two floors and to the extreme opposite corner of the house without any problems. This was not possible with my Roku 2 that I still most often use (it is located in the same room as my router). Unfortunately the earbuds that come with the 3 are pretty much junk so I actually end up using my Roku 3 very little. Unless I position the connecting pin just perfectly in the remote the sound is constantly going off and on. I have not tried another ear piece set to see if the problem is junk earbuds or a faulty remote. The earbuds also have no soft cover on the ear pieces so they are difficult to position properly to stay in your ear. Otherwise I am very pleased with Roku 3 and may buy another for my Family Room. It is definitely superior to the Roku 2 in terms of range alone.

Excellent addition if you don't have smart TV

I bought this several months ago before owning a "smart" and used it in living room; after obtaining "smart" tv with same features, I transferred it into the master bedroom and am using it there for access to favorites like netflix, etc. Glad I have it!

No cable!

I bought this because I don't have cable. There is no one who is home all the time to make it worth the money. I have to have internet since I often work from home. I sometimes get board with the 4 channels I do get FREE with rabbit ears and the Roku works crazy good as an alternative.
