love the product, but think it could be better by allowing the user the ability to put own DNS server in manually...

Wouldn't work with my TV

We bought our TV in 2010, it's a 37 inch Vizio and the Roku had "Handshake" problems with our TV. There is a security feature that HDMI uses to make it so that the images moving over the cable can't be intercepted and for some reason the Roku 3 did not like talking to our TV. We would get sound out of it, but no video. I think it's a great product, but it wouldn't work with the equipment I already had, therefore, 3 stars. The number of App options on it are great, the ease of setup was fine, but it wouldn't play any videos. We have since bought a Chromecast for our streaming needs and it works great!

Almost perfect

I can only think of three improvements: 1) add a model with a disc player, or license their product sw/hw for disc player manufacturers to integrate 2) add a DLNA/uPnP media renderer 3) assign a number for each channel, and then enable a remote control sequence to directly access each channel That's it. This is the best consumer electronics product I own. Absolutely recommended for people who are ditching cable/satellite.

Still the best.

I upgraded from an original, first model Roku to a Roku 3, just this year. Although upgraded might not be the best word -- the original Roku is still going, getting used several times a week in the living room. This is the best standalone video playing device value out there.

I think the Roku 3 is great. I have one on each of my tv's. They were easy to set up and work great. I access amazon prime and my personal hard drives with them. Access is easy and quick. My only complaint is that I need to convert my videos before viewing them so I wish Roku could read ISO and VB files. But other than that I am very happy with my Roku's.

Happy User

I have been very happy with the Roku. I previously subscribed to Directv. I had several favorite shows that I watched regularly. However there was lots of TV content that I did not watch and I was getting disenchanted with the premium channels, such as HBO, Showtime, etc. The price I was paying for these services was totally out of line with the value I was receiving.

I purchased my ROKU 3 18 mo ago. It is my 4th roku unit all have been fine but each is a upgrade. One problem with this ROKU 3 is every once in awhile it locks up and i have to unplug it and reboot. Very annoying.

We use the device with Netflix and Hulu subscriptions and it works very well. The HD picture quality on our 50 inch plasma TV is excellent. I also selected this model because of the available USB and Micro-SD ports as well as the option of using an Ethernet connection to the modem if our wireless router has a problem. Not sure that I understand why it needs to be powered on all the time, but that isn't a problem, anyway. Very pleased.
