Very Limited Controls

The basic streaming function is adequate, and it connects well to my router about 35 feet away and through a wall, but controls are very limited (e.g., limited forward and back speeds and subtitle control). I'd like the kind of control I have using a DVR remote. Searching by moving a cursor to every letter, number, and space, and backspacing for corrections is very clumsy. It lies unused on the receiver.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So Many Great Channels!!

I love the Roku 3 player. So many choices. Mostly use it for Netflix and HBO Go but added many other channels as well. Especially like the Orlando tourist channel "O" because it has weekly updates about everything Disney and Universal. Gonna give these players as christmas gifts this year!!

I bought this the day it was released in stores. I was originally in the market for Bluetooth headphones for being able to watch my TV from further away, and when the Roku 3 came out it was meant to be. I'm an android user, so everything syncs with my Samsung cell phone and tablet. I actually forget I have cable I spend so much time watching things from the Roku 3. My ONLY complaint.. is that the ear buds on the remote are a little sketchy. Sometimes there is a crackling in them if I turn the wrong way, sometimes the volume just go out randomly and I have to mess with the ear bud jack to get the volume to return and get rid of the static. Not sure if this is just a defective remote or a common issue.
