Definitely the best option for home streaming

I bought my first Roku about two years ago. I started off with the cheapest model and just hooked it up to my bedroom TV so I could watch Netflix at night. Within a few months I ordered a Roku 3 to put in my living room and I cancelled my cable TV service. I absolutely love it. The selection of programming is very good. Admittedly you will see tons and tons of channels that you'll have no interest in (which I'm sure is common in any case), but you'll still find enough options that you always have something to watch, especially if you have Netflix and Amazon Prime, or if you use Plex to connect to a media server in your house. The interface is very easy to use, the initial setup is intuitive and quick, and I never have any problems with the Roku. I also did a comparison before buying my first Roku to see how it stood up against other similar devices, such as AppleTV or Costar. At the time it seemed to be the best option, and I think that's even more true today. In fact, I gave my sister and brother-in-law a Roku 3 for Christmas without knowing they already owned an AppleTV. They said they'd still use it because they could hook it to their bedroom TV in place of the old DVD player that had been there. They ended up swapping the AppleTV and the Roku 3 not long afterward and putting the Roku 3 in the living room hooked to their main TV because they liked it so much better. Between the price, the channel selection, ease of use, and reliability, there's no comparison. The Roku is the best option out there, hands down.

Love my ROKU!!!

I have two Roku 3s - on in AZ and the other in FL. I love them - just wish over the air networks; ESPN; Golf channel; etc. would stream their programs so I could disconnect from cable.

Missing fundamental capability

For internet-based apps, this device can't be beat. But it lacks a fundamental capability of a media player - the ability to play content from shared drives on you LAN.

Excellent alternative to Smart TV's

I have 2 of the Roku 3 units and a Roku XS, and all of them perform much faster than my Smart TV's. They all have more channel selections as well and keep the software updated, unlike my Smart TV's which while they eventually update, they also lose speed. However, I have had an audio issue where it the sound becomes slower, almost like the FPS adjusts itself from 24fps to 29.97fps. This happens to all of the channels on the Roku's and a simple power cycle resolves the problem. This has happened once in the past 7 months and only on the Roku 3's.

Enjoy most of the time. Easy set up . The one thing I do not like is how long it takes to look though to find something to watch.

I bought it about 4 months ago and love all of the channels. My main complaint is that it has frozen a couple of times but other than that, I do enjoy it.
