Great when I can connect to WiFi

I had Roku "1" for almost 5 years, it was one of the best purchases I made.
I bough Roku 3 to be able use the latest interface and to be able watch my personal video using USB sticks and so bought Roku 3.
It has not been a great experience with Roku 3, but to be very true, I'm not sure whose fault is it.
Here are my observations: - Everytime Roku 3 was able to join my WIFI network, but 90% of the time complain about not being able to Join Local network (Error Code 014). - While Roku 3 is not able to join my "Local Network", Roku 1 works perfectly fine. - While Roku 3 "can't connect to my local network" using my wifi router (provided by comcast), all my other devices works prefectly fine with the Wifi Router. - While Roku 3 "can't connect to my local network" using my wifi router it works with my CellPhone tethered WiFI everytime.
I've tried all the options/troubleshooting listed on the internet (#1, #2, #3, perfping on/off, router channel setting (auto as well specific channels 1-11), router encryption setting, router ssid, router reboots, roku reboots, ....) but nothing have provided me a consistent success.
I must say, when ever it works (very random - say I'll leave it alone for a week or so and come back and it's working), it works great. Unfortunatly that's very rare, and most of the time I still rely on my Roku 1.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very Well-Thoughtout Design

I really love using the Roku 3 as my streaming device, even though my TV is internet ready and has its own apps. I never use the TV's apps anymore as the Roku has more of the apps I want and they work better/easier. But, I do have to RESET it occasionally, but not often enough to big a big issue. If I could, I would have given it a 4.9 star rating.

best decision

We bought two almost a year ago to cut the tv bill. The tv provider kept increasing the bill ever month. Roku 3 was easy to set up and saved us hundreds of dollars.

offers a lot of different sites but kind of redundant. don't know why i would want a membership to netflix and huluplus when they both have very similar items to watch.
woul love to see more games added to the selection.

Great product!

This is a great product. We use it a lot to watch streaming videos, especially for our two children. It provides a lot of streaming video channels, almost all of the channels are of little or no cost. Quality is great overall and is extremely user friendly. The price is great for what you get and I would highly recommend this product to others looking for a streaming video device. The only CON this product has I would have to say is that it should mention somewhere in the manual that a strong HDMI cable is required. If we don't use the Roku for a while and turn it on, the signal between the device and the HDMI port to the tv will cause an error. This is easily fixed by turning the Roku device off and turning it back on while the tv is on. As easy as this sounds, it is just a little tedious to unplug and plug back in, and wait for the device to reboot. Otherwise I would have given it a 5 out of 5 stars rating.

EASY-COMPLETE-FUN

I bought this to access a channel I could not get elsewhere. What I found was a great selection of programming and an easy way to access it.

USB not working

My son and I both bought the new Roku 3 and we both have the same issue with the USB port. We are using a 16 gb flash drive with mp3 music download to it. It will work at first but when we leave it connected to the Roku 3 for a couple of days Roku does not recognize that the flash drive is connected. We have to pull the power cord on the Roku 3 and then connect it after 10 seconds to get it to work.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
