Best Selection of Channels, but lacks reliability

I keep coming back to the Roku because it has the best selection (and believe it or not, it's the only device the offers all three, yes only three, of the services I use), and is the most highly rated on the various sites that rate these things. The device is very unreliable. My first Roku (about a year and a half ago) always had issues booting up. If I unplugged it to move it to another TV in the house, I would have to let it sit unplugged for 20 or 30 minutes before it would reboot. Then the remote stopped working altogether. I got a new Roku and that remote worked with the new one, so the old one just stopped accepting the remote signal (I couldn't pair it through the settings menus, either). I have to use the Roku Android app to control the first Roku, and it doesn't always find the Roku on my network. The second Roku I got just wouldn't stay connected to my Wifi. The third one seems to be working okay, so far, but I'm always a little nervous every time I go to watch it: "is it going to work this time?"
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have three Roku's in my home, and I love it..I have one in my guest bedroom for my company and that's always a big hit..

It's great when it's working

I love my Roku when it's working. It doesn't stay connected to the internet for long. And the steps that are posted in the community help make it sound like you have to be a teck superstar to fix whatever problem it is that make it constantly disconnect. I don't have to go through all those steps to keep any of my other devices in the house connected to the wifi. I don't feel I should have to with this device either.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Solid connections

I bought this to stream many of the channels offered by Roku. The streaming has been flawless. Streaming Netflix from my TVs app or my PS3 would frequently lose connection during a movie - Roku does not. It has been a great purchase.

Roku 3 very good especially w/ethernet connection. No on/off switch. Tendency to overheat if left plugged in, placed pencil underneath to help keep cool. The usb slot seems to require a special formated usb to access. No instructions about that.

Does not Run Netflix on Verizon FIOS !

We have 4 other Rokus and 2 Apple TVs in the house and they all work fine. The Roku 3 will not login to Netflix without an error 113 (?) on either wired or wireless. However, if it is connected to a wireless hotspot via cell phone it works fine with Netflix so that proves Verizon or its router is probably the cause. We have asked consistently for help from Roku, Netflix and Verizon but we get stuck in a blame circle. Netflix does not seem interested at all in resolving the problem and has just said "they are working on it" but that has been 8 months now. Verizon could care less and has been somewhat rude about it.
So if you are on Verizon you may end up returning the Roku 3 the store. My son did a lot of troubleshooting and he is a full time computer tech.

Totally unreliable

I own lower version of Roku and they work fine. I purchased Roku 3 for the ability to connect a headset to the remote. It consistently freezes. I had the unit replaced but the new unit does the same. I have to use the remote from the previous version of Roku to make it work.
