This is my second Roku. The Roku 3 remote control goes through batteries like they were going out of style. My first Roku doesnt have that problem.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great alternative to commercial cable TV

We have had the Roku for several months but have just decided to discontinue our cable service. We haven't missed it. I love the fact that there is no more searching through questionable programs to find something to watch. We search through titles and channels and select our preferences. If we don't like something, we simply stop it and begin with something else. It was simple to install and activate. I think this is the best entertainment investment we have made yet.

Roku 3 same as Roku 2 but heats up and locks up

I thought I was upgrading the Roku 2 XS. The advertising that promised "3x faster" lured me in. I was also intrigued by the headphone jack on the remote. Well, it's really not at all faster. Menu navigation is still slow and so far I haven't used to headphone option on the remote. Don't get me wrong, I have been a huge Roku fan but before I upgraded I have no reason to complain. This time around, I feel like I was really let down because that new faster processor heats up and locks up it's operation. Not good! Overall, the Roku XS offered the exact same experience, is cheaper, simpler and flawless. If you can still get an XS, I'd recommend. The Roku 3 is still a recommend but definitely not worth it to upgrade from Roku 2.

I am a long time lover of the Roku but the Roku 3 has such great features it was ideal companion to my new tv. For a few extra bucks the Roku 3 is the best thing ever.

Have had 2 previous models. Love this one! It's fast and organized well. Absolutely LOVE the headphone jack in the remote?? Amazing!
