Great. It just works.

Ive had heaps of media players and video streamers over the years but the Roku 3 is the best IMO. Whilst it does many things I use it mainly for Plex. With movies files on my PC it streams perfectly, never has to wait to buffer & in, if the file is encoded that way, full 1080p and 5.1/dts. Great picture and organised movie/TV collection is a great bonus. Just love it. Even my wife can easlly use it. Just buy it!

Not as good as I expected

I purchased the Roku3 as a compliment to our HD TV. It works great - as long as the video is NOT in HD, which defeats the purpose of the purchase. When I attempt to watch any program in HD (Amazon, NetFlix, HBO GO), I have video but no audio.
All the FAQs and forums seem to indicate the I need to be up to date with patches and on the current build. Even though I am, still, the same result. I have to resort to other means to view HD shows not on cable.
So, as the title of this review indicates, I do not think that (currently) it is as good as I expected, nor as good as advertised. I will even consider looking at a replacement device, such as the one offered by Google.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

After doing minimum research, I chose Roku - I am very happy about it! The graphics and features are simple and easy to use.

We shouldn't try to afford cable, but we need a good Internet connection. We bought Roku for watching Netflix, which has worked great. It was a delight to find how entertaining and useful so many other of the channels are. YouTube tops the list with news and educational channels. Then there are music and just about anything you can imagine.

Great product. The HD is much better than the Roku 2 making it a worthwhile purchase. The location of the GO or ENTER button on the remote is confusing as it is usually located in the center of the four scroll buttons, but I am sure we will get used to it. The BEST feature is the EARPHONE JACK. By using a splitter and two pair of buds, my wife & I can finally hear the conversations of the actors in movies that have music playing continuously in the background..

70 years old... not particularly computer literate or gifted... I wanted the WWE Network and someone told me I needed a ROKU for my TV... I balked at this new technology! .... but it was SO EASY..WORKS PERFECT.. only took seconds and I was on-screen with WWE... TV Picture is PERFECT.. WONDERFUL PRODUCT and easy for any senior citizen to install who wants Movies or in my case, the WWE.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Works better than my smart TV.

We've had a roku for many years and upgraded to the roku 3 a year ago. When we purchased a smart tv for Christmas I stopped using the roku and stored it in the basement. When we kept having connection problems with the tv I decided to bring back the roku. We haven't had a problem since. It works great all the time.

After days of research & comparisons, we settled on a Roku & couldn't be more pleased. No more hooking up a laptop for Netflix, I get my DailyBurn on the big screen . . .
