Good, But......not the best for what I wanted

I bought this specifically to use as a Sling Media Player in conjunction with my Sling Box at home. In theory you can watch, through Sling, the contents, and have full control of your home DVR virtually anywhere in the world. I already have two Western Digital Live players, one that I travel with, as it comes with the Sling Media Player. Roku advertised that it came with it too. I needed something for a vacation home I just purchased in Florida. And, I already have an older Roku and love it....great user interface, great access....nice hardware. The newer one touted the Sling Media Player so I bought it. I have wired gigabit Ethernet both at home and at my vacation home so super fast, wired access is available right to the TV...right?....WRONG. The Roku, instead of having the direct Sling Media Player, and wired access, uses your phone or tablet as your player (using a purchased Sling Player app) and then wirelessly streams to the Roku which in turn is connected to the TV. This is just too much to go through when I'm all set up for wired....and, I had limited success in getting it to work at all. Seems like far too many steps and interfaces to go through...for my application anyway. I ended up buying a Sony as it had the direct Sling Player App and works with a wired connection. The Roku is great for everything else though.....just very misleading for the Sling Box interface.

I purchased one of these after trying several other streaming devices. I have been so thoroughly impressed that I bought 2 more. We were able to get rid of our cable tv and dropped our monthly bill by at least 50%. I have recommended these to all of my friends.

A couple of months ago I bought a Roku 3. It was easy to install, and now I hardly wath regular TV anymore. For the price I paid it was well worth the money.

Except there is no shut of unless to disconnect, because it has a strong interference on my listenig to Radio.
So now I bought a Smart Samsung TV, and it stays disconnected.

We got this with great hopes that we could stream in movies but it would never connect to our wifi. We just went back to netflix and stream it in through our ipad and hook it up to the TV. Works great. Roku never would. According to our research we did after the fact this is very common. Waste of money for sure.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Owned for almost a year, and doesn't disappoint. Universal search is AWESOME. No lag between selecting a show/movie and it playing (unlike my TV and DVD player). Very, very satisfied with my Roku purchase.

I love my roku box. My kids and I watch movies, favorite tv shows, and play angry birds. I just say to roku, with the fire tv being out.....I would love to see more games on roku :(
