This is my 3rd roku. I have one on each TV. Roku 3 is the best of all of them.

We have two Rokus in the house so the family can enjoy different programing at the same time. At any rate, these gadgets are wonderful!

Portable and compatible

I bought a roku 3 to replace my roku1 which had been collecting dust. My primary use is for children's shows for my toddlers, which I stream via Amazon Prime and Netflix. I simultaneously purchased a Samsung smart TV, which has similar functionality onboard. The major difference between going with a smart TV vs. an add on box (i.e. Roku) is that the Roku is portable. I recently went on a two week vacation and we were able to simply hook it up to the TV where we were staying and continue where we left off. Without it, I'm sure my kids would have been a handful. Amazon Prime on my Samsung smart TV is extremely hard to hear (apparently a common problem), while on the Roku I have no such issue. Additional features are a headphone jack in the remote (very useful if you binge watch while your partner is sleeping) and the joystick feature for playing games. Roku3 has Youtube, which was sorely mnissed on my original Roku.

Has good user interface but ?.

I find the User interface and the headphones plugging into the remote to be fabulous. It's easy to use and quick too. However, as I travel a lot , I wish to be able to use the ROKU overseas. But because there is no way I can set up the DNS on it, almost all content is blocked, even those that I am subscribed to. The other problem is that the memory card cannot be used for any content which I may want to watch. It's only for the system to use. So, I cannot carry my home videos, or photographs or movies. So, pretty useless to have that slot there. It is such a good box, but has been hobbled by not allowing users to configure certain features. I know Apple controls it's product tightly, but even they allow Users the Apps that can make it work better. Here, ROKU keeps it tight, but also does not have any Apps to make it flexible for travelers. One more thing, where are the 1,000s of channels hidden?

Great device besides the software glitch

I bought this after my roku xd decided not to display on my TV. I love this device and use it every day. There was a glitch with the software where it kept telling me it couldn't display and gave me a purple screen. So they had me return it and sent me another. It was pretty good customer service to be honest. It's worked fine since. There's not a device out there that is better than this at doing what this does.

Messed up my Internet connection

It had some nice features, but after implementing its use, we kept dropping our internet connection on our other devices. No change to our router would fix it. So we disconnected and returned it. Haven't dropped the connection since. We have been fans of Roku since its inception, back when Netflix was all that you could stream. We rehooked up a previous model, and are once again fine with it. (and so is our connection)

Best one of the Roku Series!

I started out with a Roku 1 because we only ever had a standard TV set. When our TV finally upgraded I also upgraded our Roku to the Roku 3. I literally got together all my loose change and bought a Roku 3 for our front room. Its way faster than the Roku 1 and has better connection with the dual channel wifi. The Remote is great for playing the games, and you don't have to worry if you're pointing it at the Roku or not to make it work. If you have a HDMI enabled TV get the Roku 3. If you have a standard then the Roku 1 is good enough. I still use it for my bedroom. I did notice a difference between them though, and 3 is best. And I save money each month with no Cable TV service! No more channel surfing till you get to what you want to watch, just pick it out on any of the channels available and watch whatever you want when you want to.
