I bought my Roku 3 to replace the original model Roku I owned since about 2010. The old model served me well, but was getting outdated. The Roku 3 is a wonderful step up! Smaller, with a more powerful processor so movies and shows load up quickly and rarely, if ever, buffer. Thanks to its array of channels, I don't even think about subscription cable or satellite.

Twice as nice

I have two ROKU 3s, one is connected wireless the other with the cat cable, both work excellent and I can never see any difference in quality between them. I use the HD surround sound settings through my receiver, very happy.

I love the freedom from broadcast channels as well as having so many more channels and types of programming to choose from and discover. I am very happy I switched. What a difference!

Good until SW/firmware Upgraded and now useless

I was happy with Roku until SW was upgraded along the way and made it impossible to navigate. I often have to go back to home page after doing previews - or basically after any lengthy (> 1 minute) of navigation. It wasn't always this way. But, it's so bad now that I switched to Amazon Fire because I'm tired of fighting this.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not so good

This Roku player has had problems with Netflix, as it has had problems starting up Netflix, and requiring reentering email address and password using the remote. Though not as often as when I first purchased , I recently had to enter the email and password AGAIN. Unplugging the device as Roku support suggested helped a while, but recently this need to reenter my email and password has shown me this device has this major flaw. I do not recommend this Roku3 until this Major Flaw is fixed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought my Roku a year ago and love it...a great purchase I highly recommend. My daughter had not heard of the Roku, and was so impressed that I could make such a great decision buying a tech product.
