Decent Upgrade with Some New Problems

I bought a refurbushed Roku 3 that initially didn't work. After some frustrating interaction with support, I was sent a brand new one at no cost. Points to them there. Prior to the 3, we had three different models of Roku 2 in the house. The 3 is significantly faster than all of them. The remote is also nice; I enjoy not having to point it at the device and the headphone jack is great. Unfortunately, the remote has one major problem and that's due to the Wifi Direct functionality. It uses the same type of wifi for the remote as we do in our house. Due to a bug or other annoyance, it always follows around the channel of our 5 GHz access point, drastically increasing the amount of interference. The problem also happens on the 2.4 GHz band, but not quite as bad. So far, I've not found an acceptable solution to this problem.

I've had my Roku for over a year. Just bought a second one. It is easy to use. Video quality is outstanding. Channel selection is amazing. Can't live without it.

I have three Roku 3 players: 1 in the bedroom, 1 in the living room and one in the dinning room. It's quick, wide variety of channel to choose from (paying and free ones). I have no complaints about this product.

Love the Roku… tried to get my PS3 set up with Netflix and it was very difficult. The Roku was set up and watching movies in minutes. It has many different services you can select and pay for by the month or by the movie. It's awesome!

I have reviewed just about all the others streaming television boxes and the new Roku beats them hands down! Easily review the movies and shows, get expanded information and watch anytime in HD quality. And a huge list of shows!

By and large I think the Roku 3 is great. I think the user interface is great; I like the fully stocked apps store; I think the "search across all channels" feature is killer.
However, I have a couple of issues with it that make it difficult to recommend fully.
First, compatibility of audio with Netflix sucks. After watching one thing on Netflix, audio completely falls apart (you can hear bass and nothing else; all treble and other audio drops out). This affects the device, so no matter which other channel I switch to (Amazon, Spotify, etc.), all are identically impacted. Stay away from Netflix, and the audio is always fine with everything else. Totally weird problem, but one I've read that a few other users have encountered; in any case, it's rendered the device useless for watching with Netflix. Which is a bummer.
Second, occasionally the device will freeze and require a reset. For some inexplicable reason, the cursor doesn't move around the screen and it requires just turning off the device and turning it back on again. In the grand scheme of things that's not a total deal-breaker; on the other hand, that's never ever happened with my AppleTV, so, um, there you have it.
