Ease of setup and use. Simple and efficient. Vast selection of channels from which to use. I particular like the search feature that shows from which vendors (channels) I can find the show or movie. Definitely produced with end user in mind. Traded my Apple TV in for Roku 3.

Don't buy any other...

Please take heed from someone who learned to late about ROKU! I can make first hand direct comparisons because I made the mistake of buying three other devices before finding this amazing piece of genius technology. I now tell my stories of misspent money to anyone who will listen. Run, don't walk, to the nearest Rokus 3... I don't care one iota what anyone say about Apple TV, Chromecast or Sony...take all three and then multiply what they do by 100 and you have efficiency, effectiveness, and enduring entertainment with this device! Amazing! 1200 channels, TWC app...games and an amazing remote. We got a splitter and both of us can watch a movie in silence with babies, guests etc. I'm a fine arts person, not a techie, so I address this as a consumer who wanted to find something that lived up to the hype.... With Roku 3 it is not hype....it's a promise!

I recently cut the cable after noticing that all my TV watching happens on online services: Youtube, Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. I was comfortable doing this largely because of the Roku. Text entry with the Roku remote is as tedious as you'd imagine, and I don't know an easy cheap fix for that but if they find one, it would be welcome. But otherwise it's great. With very few exceptions, it remembers what episode I most recently watched of every show, and takes me right back to where I left off. (I gave content only four stars not thru any failing of the Roku, but that's just the content quality of the online video services.)

Headphone jack!!

I can now listen to anything and not bother anyone. Slacker, Qello and boxing even when we have company that wants to go to bed early!! I use my first Rokyu on my house music stereo and disconnected my second D-TV player that I only used for music!

Frustrating error and broke down quickly

I kept getting an hdcp unauthorised content disabled error. Roku wasn't very helpful with this and I tried everything to resolve it. I bought a new HDMI cable, new TV and a splitter but nothing resolved it. I would get it constantly in the middle of whatever I was watching until finally the device completely broke down. Since Roku only has a 3 month warranty I was out of luck. I wanted to like this but I am back to using my original Roku which works flawlessly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We have 2 Roku 3's. We do like them. Quick, reliable, lite and small. read many formats. Roku apps are amazing and so many. Never to many. Headphones on the remote is also a huge plus when I am sleeping and the wife wants to watch Netflix. But, what I don't like is the movie app and not being able to set up the way I view my list of movies. VERY BAD SETUP. When using the headphones via the remote, the remote batteries go bye bye very fast. DEAD. We also own 2 WD TV live units. Much slower, less aps. BUT, they give me more freedom for viewing my list of movies and enjoy more formats to watch. There both good and the competition is great. Better for us the consumer.
