It just didn't impress me...

I got the ROKU 3 and had hopes it would be a big improvement over the older unit I had... It was ok, no big ground breaking changes to speak of. Sadly I just wasn't impressed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I enjoy the way you can use the earplugs so not to bother any one I also like it has each person selections so you don't have to see what others want to watch

Great little internet streamer

Had the Roku for a few months now. I really picked it up because I previously had a Boxee, and they went out of business. I purchase the MLB package each year and stream the games, which work great on the Roku. My kids love to watch Netflix over the Roku as well, and it works flawlessly. Of course my ISP is a part of the Netflix Open Connect Content Delivery Network which makes a big difference. The Roku itself has worked wonderfully.

We are so happy we upgraded from R2 to 3. Wait times to load are way down, jerkiness and pausing, frequent disconnects all seem to be gone. We use the remote app from a tablet to simplify searching. Couldn't be happier.

simple, easy to navigate

I have had the Roku 3 for over a year. I recently got the Amazon Fire and was extremely disappointed with the menus. The Roku let's me scroll through apps easier and faster than the Fire. I can see what I want quickly without a lot of fluff and splash. I would buy another Roku before Fire.

I bought this unit 1 year ago. Our main movie watching room, the living room, is outfitted with a 7.2 Sony Receiver and surround sound speakers. I quickly discovered that the Roku 3 with all it power, speed, and great user interface simply cut off 2 channels of signal. If you have a 5.1 surround like most american this won't effect you at all. However, if you aspire to truly hear everything as it was intended in the producers imagination...you can't with the Roku system. It is very "dumbed/paired" down for the less tech savvy operator. The interface for the most part is very easy to use and navigate. We kept the Roku 3 and use it in our Master Bedroom. It loads extremely fast. It streams extremely fast. It never glitches. It is a fantastic setup...However, it is not compatible with a more advanced stereo setup. You can't even control what speakers to exclude...it messes it all up. We ended up going with the Sony Google Player for the Living room. We love it.
