I have tried different players and been building single purpose media computers for over ten years now. Until I got my Roku 3 I have never been satisfied. The Roku 3 experience has exceeded my expectations on all counts. The ease of use for non-techie family members, the remote control that the kids love (what is it about a strap?), headphone jack on the remote and not locking everything down so that techies can get a little more out of it just adds to the whole package.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Perfect for Hulu & Netflix of course.
Truly great for random channels to meet your taste in programming.
Personally use Roku mostly for the great Malimar TV channel.

We purchased the roku for guest room viewing because our kids monopolized all other space. In a matter of days, they wanted to have the speed, clarity and ease of use the roku gives users. My 6 year old typically navigates the channels and at times requests purchases. Overall great product. We will likely purchase one for other rooms in the house. Thank you.

I am glade that this works good. better then hooking my computer up to the tv using amazon prime. lots of good movies even though some of the free ones are old movies. Great hunting and fishing shows and christian sites to go to. thinking about disconnecting my cable and just using the internet connection now. Just wish I could get on Lumosity connection to play the brain games and my Logos stuff on here to read my bible stuff and books.

Here's why I REGRET buying the Roku 3.

What regrets could I possibly have about acquiring the Roku 3? Simple. I WAITED TOO DAMNED LONG to upgrade from my original Roku [circa Christmas 2009] to the amazing Roku 3. I love this little box: Not only is it a fraction of the size of the original Roku I'd been using for waaaaaaaaay too long, but the technical flexibility is light years ahead of the older models AND as good [or even better] than Apple TV. The remote control even allows viewers to plug their earbuds directly into the remote, so watching TV in bed with your significant other is no longer a source of passive agressive behaviors! ;-) Terrific no-brainer add-on to your current TV watching options at an equally no-brainer price point. (Oh yeah: The sheer number of channels available for free is also another reason to not make the same mistake I did by fiddle-farting around way too long to purchase this little techno-gem.)

Free to choose

Being able to choose what I want to watch when I want to watch free, or at reasonable rates and without commercials is wonderful! There are annoying reloads and cutouts, but very few. It's an excellent alternative to costly cable TV services that offer only one channel that I care to watch among the hundreds. All you need with Roku is the I-Net.
