New generation TV's offer alternative internet connectivity and programming content but if you have one of the dumber TV's of last generation, Roku will put your TV to the head of the class!

Keeps losing the internet connection

I have a Roku2 and a Roku3. I much prefer the Roku2. The Roku3 keeps losing the internet connection and I have never lost the internet connection on the Roku2. I would gladly trade my Roku3 for another Roku2 to use on another computer in my home.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Better than smart TV

If you have a chance to buy a TV with built in apps, the quality of the wireless card will most likely be of lesser quality. We bought a Vizio smart TV. Plugged it in, connected to our Wifi and we were streaming movies. Cool. One less device, one less remote. However, almost immediately the movies started buffering no matter if it was Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Hulu. I'm a savvy network guy so I did a speed test of our network, tested movies at the same distance as the TV from my laptop and no gagging/buffering. We've owned Roku players in the past and new this would fix our issue. We ordered the 3 and two days later we're streaming movies with no buffering errors. My only complaint is that I think the OK button should be in the middle of the arrow keys. Not enough of a complaint to mark it down from 5 stars. Plus, I've switched to using the iphone app as my remote so it's no big deal. I would recommend this product.

Best Roku so far

Bought this to replace an aging Roku XD. We also have a Roku stick on our other television. The speed is noticeably faster. The remote though, is huge (thickness) compared to that if the XD.

Although my TV has streaming video capabilities, it didn't handle subtitles. I got my Roku 3 a year ago and love it. Subtitles are easily turned on and off. Occasionally I have to power the Roku 3 off then on when things get hung up, but that seems to be the only problem.
