I've been relatively happy with the roku 3 for the cost. It plays just about everything you can throw at it however, the left to right navigation gets cumbersome and takes a long time to get to anything later in the alphabet. Roku needs to plan its UI better in future iterations.

Better than a smart TV

I am always searching for the best technology to take me to the next level. I purchased the Roku 2 and was happy with how well it performed. But when I saw the Roku 3 I was thrilled. My husband snores and if he falls asleep before me it can be a challenge to hear the TV without turning up the sound, and not waking him. With the Roku 3 I just plug in the same earphones I use for my phone and ahhhh he keeps sleeping and I can hear the TV. I also just purchased a new smart tv. I really like GaiamTV and when I use my Roku to watch this it is smooth with clear sound, when I use my smart tv, the programming lags, stops and the sound is so tinny I can't enjoy it. Also when I am watching shows on plex on the smart tv, the layout is terrible, when I watch on my Roku the format is user friendly. I also have Chromecast and prefer the Roku because as chromecast is nice, it has limited program choices, no Gaiamtv.
I only wrote this review to help other consumers out there sort through all these devices. :->

I have 2 rokus. Fantastic product. Easy to set up and move. I love my roku so much I bought my Mother one.

Great device

I got this so I could watch programming when I want to instead of when a network schedules it. Plus I found much more programming than is available through cable networks or satellite providers. This way I can pay for what I want to watch.

I'm a recent "cord cutter" (60 days) and have found the Roku3 to be a very handy transitional tool. Before my Roku purchase I was using my laptop with a HDMI cable attached to the TV to watch Netflix, Hulu, etc., which was somewhat inconvenient. I am very pleased with the ease of use and the quality of the product. The headset in the remote is also a nice feature.
