Roku - What It Can and Cannot Do

I bought my unit about a month ago and have still not really set it all up. I have nothing but over the air digital TV now so I do appreciate having 'some' of my old favorites to view. I feel this was the best decision based on price I could make since all of the cost was up front.
It is misleading to believe this will replace live TV. News channels I miss, and of course the Weather Channel, and being able to watch current episodes without a fee is a real bummer. I feel my disappointment comes from having access to too many choices for 30 years prior to my new experience.
I am not a gamer and I do not watch many over the air programs, but I am making due with my new choices. I need to take the time to spend a whole day setting up accounts and then might have a better opinion.

The new way of watching movies and TV shows is here! Roku gives you the power to watch what you want when you want. No need for DVRs. No need for satellite. No need for cable. You just need a high speed Internet connection, a Netflix account and a Hulu Plus account. It also helps to have Amazon Prime and a Target Ticket account. My family loves the Roku. The interface is so easy to use that my 4-year old daughter can do it on her own. If you put an air antenna on your roof, you can still watch local channels for free.

With the roku I was able to reduce the number of cable boxes, and remotes in my house. The number of channels grow all the time, and the version 3 has YouTube. That alone is worth it. It does get a little hot, and it has improved a lot since version 2.

I like the separate audio jack on the remote! My concerns are as follows: 1. My plasma tv does not support Dolby Digital Plus while my home theater system does. When streaming a show with the plus, I have to pause, go to audio/subtitles, change the audio to stereo (what is the reason to have a home theater system), and back to the show - otherwise, no audio. 2. My que - does not tell me how many is in it, and in general I like the one I get with my Roku 2 or even my Roku 1. I do like the search function and the user function.

Roku 3 is very user friendly fast and easy . .
and the headphone socket in remote makes it really easy to watch TV even when your kids are sleeping , .
