Roku is a plug and play option that is so easy even I (a senior) could be on line in 15 minutes. Now that is all we watch. Just love it.

I bought this device about 1 year ago & I love it :) its super simple to set up....I have had not one problem with it since I have had it.....it works beautifully :) theres a huge selection of apps.........and I like that there is a big selection of movies apps..........I will never part with my roku :) well unless they upgrade to a roku 4 LOL :)

GREAT! Except...

Listen. This streaming device sets the standards for all others...period. The only thing that's REALLY missing is a true internet browser and the ability to search for "hidden" streaming channels (Adult) without having to use a PC, Tablet, I-Pad, etc.
Truly, a 5 Star product. Fast, and easy to use.

Excellent player

Bought this to primarily use a channel available in this device. However beyond that we use Netflix as our primary channel. The device was pretty easy to setup and has excellent connectivity to HDMI and Wifi. I have tried to use the inbuild Wifi as well as networking port and since the Wifi itself is quite stable, I don't use the port to connect physically to the device. The device itself is quite responsive and been working great all this time. Remote is also quite responsive and works from any angle. There are many other channels but we do not use any others as such to comment on them except Netflix and DiskTV. I have never used previous generation of Roku so cannot comment much about the difference as such, but based on the specifications

we got this about a year ago, & it works great, we have ours hooked up to wifi and you get to watch Netflix or Hulu or whatever you have a subscription with

Love my Roku 3!

I used to use WD TV Live. But the Roku is much much better.
Netflix is my main app. I suppose some of the improvement from the WD to the Roku is the new Netflix app, a much better experience than the old app. I love how the new app supports multiple profiles/queues.
The Roku is so much faster than the WD. It's always on, just goes into powersave mode after some time of no use, and gets to Netflix in a few seconds. The WD took about a minute to get to Netflix: click a button, wait, click more buttons, wait, click more buttons, etc.
I've discovered Plex for viewing videos on my local computer, and Roku Media for viewing photos and listening to music on a local network file share. They work well.
Podcasts are great on the Roku. Channels for tech stuff like TwiT make it like watching stuff on my DVR.

Slow and clunky

I've owned the roku 3 for almost a year. Every time I pause or stop streaming content my receiver audio mode changes to 2 speaker mode. No other component of mine does this. They have acknowledged the issue and claimed an update would come out 6 months ago. So far nothing, no patch, no firmware updates. Great service...not.
