Very Good

We have been using a Roku LT for about 1.5 years and when we finally got a second TV we decided to buy a Roku 3. We went with the 3 for the 1080 and headphone thru the remote features and we very much like those features. The headphones thru remote is great. Now the few cons: the Roku 3 freezes or locks up often and needs to be reset, this has never happened with our Roku LT. Also the shape of the remote is made for use with playing games, but won't sit on an end table without rolling off. It's bottom is too round. Overall we are very happy with our Roku 3 and would recommend it to anyone.

Sling box interface, not so much

I have the Roku XL and the Roku 3. The 3 seems to be much faster and I love the phone/ ear plug on the remote. My only disappointment is on the Sling Box interface. Sling requires you to buy their app. after paying dearly for their unit. Then you must use your smart device to control the Sling "channel" on your Roku. I use the Sling box when away from home and have found the Net Gear streaming player to be much handier for use with the Sling. But otherwise the Net Gear unit cannot hold a candle to the versatility, and speed of the Roku.

Roku's hardware can handle any stream the bottle neck will always be your connection, not Roku.

Don't get me wrong, when we dumped cable/sat there were some withdrawals of sorts. However, the ROKU eased the transition. Even with our slowest of the slow internet connection, it runs nicely in standard def. There are a whole lot of shows and channels. I do wish we could somehow stream major news broadcasts in the evening. I also wish there was a way to stream our local channels, even if it meant watching the commercials. Where we live has limited antenna reception. Otherwise, this thing rocks. There are TONS of kids shows, and PBS is great. Now some channels like History, and A&E will charge you to get full access. However, there are still plenty of shows to view. We already had an Amazon Prime account, so we utilize that quite often to stream free content. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could. Just wish we could somehow get streaming locals and news. Otherwise, this thing is pretty darn great!

I've had two Roku 3's for nearly a year and in that time they have slowly taken primacy over my cable service. As a hub for a wide variety of streaming services, Roku is unbeatable, and it also allows personal videos, photos, and audio files to be played over your system. Roku 3 is versatile and we have found it utterly reliable, producing high quality picture and sound, even over a wireless connection. Indispensible!

No need for cable!

We purchased the Roku because we had no desire to pay for basic cable service to watch the handful of channels that would be of any interest to us. With the Roku and subscriptions to services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Warner Archive Streaming and Hulu Plus we can see anything we like on our own schedule. And yes, subscribing to all those services is still cheaper than subscribing to our local cable network for just basic.

Bought my Roku 3 a few months ago and glad I did so! I love my Roku! I showed my neighbor and he went out and bought two of them for his house, I plan on buying three more when I get paid! absolutely love it! thanks guys!!!!
