Economical and easy to use.

My favorite part of having the Roku is being able to stream channels, shows and even individual YouTube subscriptions to the television.

I've had the Roku 3 for several months. I purchased it for a heavily used TV after having a couple of Roku 2 (previous generation) on lesser used TVs. I do like that the Roku 3 supports the new Netflix profiles feature (and the older ones don't), but I have frequent audio issues on the Roku3 with Netflix that I do not have on any other device in the house (Roku2, AppleTV, Chromecast, Samsung SmartTV). Every other app works perfectly, but Netflix is 90% of the usage of the Roku3, so the sound problems are the reason for the relatively low rating.
To put it differently, if you are considering Roku3 versus AppleTV and you are not heavily invested into the Apple economy, then consider your Netflix usage. If you are a heavy Netflix user, then you will probably be happier with AppleTV. If Netflix is a small portion of your usage, then you will love this Roku3 as much as I love the Roku2.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works Great But Needs Web Browser With Flash.

I have cut my cable cord and have a streaming stick in the bedroom and a Roku 3 in the living room the only addition I wish it had is a Web Browser with flash so I can watch flash embedded video from some unique websites.

I wish you had access to a few more channels such as Bravo, HGTV, or regular HULU. However, I can't complain because you still get access to a lot of other quality content. It's easy to setup and I have had no problems with it. One complaint could be they should be able to produce a better remote.

Streaming Videos

The Roku 3 works as advertised. We enjoy using the product and streaming movies using an external drive. The Channels are easy to use and some are very interesting. I couldn't believe how much information is available for free. However, sometimes watching the videos from the external drive freeze up and it reboots the Roku. I've tried from different drive manufacturers and the problem persists. Weird.

must restart after two hours

I like everything about it except that I have to turn my TV off and on after 2 hours or so as the audio distorts. I can unplug the Roku for the same refresh, but turning the TV on/off is easier.

I originally purchased my unit to cut the cost of my cable bill, which it has by approximately $50-$75 per month so far. The unit is great you just have to adjust how and when you watch. TV shows some can be watched the same day some you have to watch the next day. I have Amazon Prime and HuluPlus so I switch back and forth depending on what I want to watch.
