Great device but lacks browser App

Roku 3 is great, super fast. Stream for hours and no worries. HD quality is great. The remote with headphone is a great concept.
The Apps are not that great. TV Apps like Dishworld do not have a channel numbering, so you need to go through each channel to get to the one you want to watch.
It really lacks a very basic thing. A full fledged Internet Browser App like Samsung TV has. Not all content is available via an App, so a browser should be there.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchased a Roku 2 a couple of years ago, I had trouble watching Netflix at times and Hulu Plus too. I really wanted to be able to watch you tube and it was only available on Roku 3, so I purchased it and found it to be able to play faster, so I haven't had any trouble with Netflix and I could watch you tube.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Perfect for our Family

I bought this a few months ago with a outdoor antennae. I absolutely love it. I get my regular channels through the antennae and get movies, videos, various channels for tons less than I paid for cable (I pay for Netflix). I was concerned at first I would want cable back but decided to try it for a few months which is no loss monetarily since the cable bill is $100+ I am so satisfied I have no reason to go back and my kids love it much better since they have access to Netflix (which a minimal cost compared to cable) in their rooms to see their favorite movies and tv shows. I watch exercise videos on you tube for free and love it subscribing to my favorite ones, watch the free music and video channel, national geographic and other movie channels for free like sundance etc. I would recommend this product. I am glad to get away from the heavy cable bill with unsatisfying channels and I have much more than I need now. Now I watch movies when I want not when it is showing on the cable channel.

Could use a little work

I've been using my roku in place of cable television in my bedroom and thus far I like it although I do feel it could use some work. I find that I am constantly getting error messages for certain channels such as the disney stations and I have to log out of my comcast account and reconnect to it again for it to work again. I also dislike that alot of the stations require that you have cable service to be able to watch the stations which sort of defeats the purpose of using the roku as a replacement for cable to save money. I don't mind this so much as I usually use it for netflix and hulu which still saves me money in the long run since I do not pay as much for those subscriptions as I would be paying for cable.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Why I need to have Cable Account while I have Roku

I purchased Roku to replace my Cable. Now Most of TV channels I will get in this player if and only if I have cable account / connection. - like ESPN, HBO GO Etc. I am not getting any TV channels, not even free in Air. This is total waste of money for me. For all major channel I need to pay monthly subscription - like NetFlix / DishWorld etc. This is another way of taking your money out

Freezes and not all apps run smoothly on it.

I have had my roku for about a year now. At first i really enjoyed it, but i only used it for netflix. Once i started using other apps though i started liking it less. The funimation app only allows me to watch a single episode before having to restart the app. Thought it was on their side, but others online did not seem to have the same issues on the roku 2. Also it does the same thing with the amazon app. Slows down on netflix now as well.
Don't even use it anymore, i just use my ps4 now for amazon. I had to cancel funimation because it was too inconvenient to use on roku. They do not have it yet for the ps4.
It was also a pain during the initial setup. Had to google how to get it to work. It would not accept my wireless router at first.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
