the roku 3 locked up for the 1st time today, my roku 2 seems to lock up about once a week. also, really wish the roku 3 had analog outputs for my McIntosh stereo.

I HAVE BEEN USING THIS DEVICE FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW AND AM COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH THE PERFORMANCE THUS FAR. INITIAL SET UP COMPLICATIONS WITH TV SERVICE PROVIDER, HOWEVER ONCE THAT WAS ADDRESSED THINGS ARE FINE. NOW I CAN PICK AND CHOOSE WHICH MOVIES I SEE AS OPPOSED TO "RE-RUNS" ON HBO, CIMEMAX,STARS ETC.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best Purchase of My Life

I bought the Roku after realizing that I would be able to watch Netflix, HBO Go, etc on my TV without hooking up my laptop to the TV (and, thus, not being able to use my laptop while watching the show/movie) and without needing some game console that I did not really want. It was the best decision I have ever made.
While I have not chucked out my cable completely, I find that I spend about 75% of my TV time watching shows and movies on the Roku. I love the ease of the device and the price. I have recommended it to everyone I know!

Sorry to say I liked the Roku LT better

I bought the Roku 3 for my grandson's. They all loved Angry birds. But the ROKU 3 tends to shut down a lot. Before I bought the ROKU 3 I had the ROKU LT. I liked it a lot better. I still have the ROKU LT. Its in my great grand daughter's room. She is 2 and loves it B/C she can work it her self :) i give the ROKU LT 5 stars
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased this product two months ago, OMG, I have saved $75.00 plus dumping cable TV (don't forget to keep the internet) this is truly better than anything cable has to offer, don't wait get it now, I told three friends the bought this product and love it.

Roku 3 is very capable but has a few shortcomings

I have been using my Roku 3 for about 3 months. All things considered it is probably the best streamer out there. That said, it has 4 nagging problems which keep it from being perfect.
PROS: Fast, intuitive interface, video quality, reliable WiFi connectivity, channel variety, plays MP3s and MP4s via USB.
CONS: Freezes and requires hard power-down about once per week. Does NOT play AVI, WMV, MKV and several other video formats from USB. Surround sound on some channels (like Netflix) requires a Dolby Digital+ capable receiver. I own a standard Dolby Digital receiver so Netflix has no sound until I switch to Stereo only. The Amazon channel does not have this problem, Dolby Digital works fine. Lastly, the Roku 3 unit runs very hot even when not in use which I solved by plugging it into a switched outlet.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I really love being able to watch netflix and hulu on my tv. The only negative review I can give is it does not remember where it left off when you to back and forth to regular tv.
