I love all the channels that are streamed over this little device. I know that our family watches far more and better programming after ditching the cable and moving to Roku 3.
The network remote is a feature that was LONG overdue in the world of set-top boxen. The Android app is outstanding especially after the last update. Streaming music from my phone to the Roku is a dream come true.
This box is a different way to view content compared to devices that stream from Windows shares and Linux SMB. It fails miserably in this regard. Users should not have to rely on dozens of niche streaming services that transcode from a central server to dumb down the video to get it to play on the Roku.
I have the available bandwidth to stream a Blu Ray ISO to a box connected to my TV without shutting everyone else in the house out. I have a 4 year old Argosy HV335T with hard drive that plays or streams ISO files and MKV files with subtitles without breathing heavy. And it was at the same price point if you don't account for inflation.
Love the interface. A little annoyed that the device doesn't turn off, just so Roku can break into my box at night and change my background.
I'm a little ambivalent about the channel store. You can get nickeled and dimed to death like in-app purchases. Certainly the all star players are represented there, but the great minor league players are best found on lists of private channels.
With 4K displays right around the corner I don't know what longevity the Roku 3 will have. I believe it is the perfect opportunity to take network streaming devices to the next level. Upgrade the wifi and the ethernet speeds. Include Display Port and USB 3.0. Add hardware acceleration to a faster processor, so you can stream high bit rate stuff to it and yes play games. I'm talking about real FPS and steam-like games which of course will require a better remote/controller. (Roku 4+ or 5+ or Access+)
Bottom line simple always, always wins. I for one can't wait to see Roku innovate and iterate.

I've had my Roku3 for about a year. I can't live without it! Plex is definitely the killer app!

Almost Perfect

I've been using my Roku 3 for a couple of months and overall I'm happy.
The interface is well layed out and responsive and not having to worry about line of sight for the remote control is convenient. The headphones on the remote is also a nice feature.
The biggest issue I have currently is that the volume control on the remote only affects the headphones. I would much rather had the ability to change the volume for the television through the Roku remote than a gimmick like the motion capture of the remote that I never use.
In summary the Roku 3 is an excellent product with a wide variety of available channels to choose from and I recommend to anyone looking for a method to stream content to your television.

I had a Roku 2 that I LOVED. Used everyday but it was a little slow nothing bad just that this Roku 3 is blazing fast. Was so easy to hook up. Easier to navigate and just the best little device I have ever bought. So happy with my Roku 3 - seems like Xmas.

What an awesome little machine. And yes it does get youtube for all those wondering or misled on the Roku 3.. So easy to setup a three year old could do it.. Its like having a smart tv without he price..buy one your gonna love it!!!

Roku 3 is the answer to cables and satellites over priced packages. I could never understand why they didn't offer an ala carte selection instead of a bunch of forien speaking stations and teaser premium stations and what they thought you would like. Roku 3 gives you your choice.
