Better than Amazon FireTV

I've had my Roku for a couple months now and love it. I originally bought the FireTV but found it didn't have the apps I wanted and wasn't easy to use. I returned it after almost 2 weeks and exchanged it with the Roku 3. It had the apps and channels I wanted and was easier t navigate through. Then I downloaded the Roku app to my smartphone. Even easier to navigate and search. I love it. You can't go wrong with it. I use Netflix, Hulu Plus and Crackle and it has no problems with buffering using my wireless router. I couldn't ask for anything better.
I would recommend this to a friend!

ROKU giveth & ROKU taketh away

Roku 3 onboard features are greatly improved over previous incarnations. That said, it would be wonderful if it had all the out-ports of the original Roku 1. I still have my original Roku 1 and use its RCA audio-video out-ports to send the Roku 1 signal to an RF Modulator Audio/Video signal converter to power old RGB TVs in my two art studios. The RF mod device has the requisite RCA audio-video in-ports and converts the signal to port out to RF coaxial TV cable. That runs under the house to deliver Roku 1 programming to a pair of ancient RGB TVs in my two art studios. How could Roku 3 be improved? By restoring some of the abandoned out-ports common to the Roku 1. That would make more program options available on older TVs.

I got my Roku for Father's Day so I could watch MLB on my TV and it works great. The extra channels and apps were a unexpected surprise!

Needs on off switch on device and remote

Product would have 5 stars if these 3 features were added to the next improved model: (and I would buy the upgrade)
1) (A) main unit can't be turned OFF... Always on wasting energy (not a green entergy star device). Probably phoning home like ET.
(B) thus, I have to control it with an on/off power strip. (Talked to a ruku support person about this and was told he unplugged his also.
2) (A) Remote is the same, always on and a led light blinking every minute or 'N' number of seconds.
(B) thus, I have to control the remote by removing one of the 2 AA batteries (a pain)(otherwise it goes through batteries like crazy!
3) the remote absolutely must have a mute button on it when using the headphones with the remote. I'd like to be able to mute the sound with headphones on.
Can I pay extra for no commercials?
Can I choose the commercials that I would more likely buy the product instead of something over and over and over, etc? For my hours of viewing

Conclusion: with these 2 problems solved, put me in line for the corrected upgraded device

Cant express my love for this device enough! I use it at home! I take it with me when I travel! I even take it to friends houses for visits!
