Much better than expected.

I used to have a Boxee Box which worked well for me. My brother told me he got a Rokku 3 so I had to get one too. So much content available and all the private channels you can add too. I love it. I mostly use it for Amazon Prime, Netflix, HBO GO and PLEX. I'm glad I didn't get Apple TV.

quick to stream, no buffering skips

Compared to "smart TVs" I own, the Roku provides streaming and a logical interface that is far superior. On top of that, the content is everything you could want.

Best player to date

I have owned every model of the roku players, this is the best version to date, very reliable, great graphics, easier to add and remove apps, love the headphone feature and link to view videos from smartphones and tablets on the screen by wifi. You do not have to point the remote at the player since it uses radio frequencies and therefore you can hide the roku box out of sight.

Can’t turn it off

Even though the features are great and it works well when it works, lack of an automatic shutoff, or even an off switch, is a bad idea. The unit gets very hot, just sitting idle with the TV turned off. I have noticed the difference between the Roku 3 and the Roku 2 that I have on another set. Even though the Roku 2 has fewer features, I strongly prefer it and have been considering downgrading. This power thing plus the fact that it automatically plays the next show in a series when I turn around a bit is very annoying.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Best Media Player

I have had the Roku 3 for over a year now and it is the best Internet Media player hands down. It has more content that Apple tv easily. Works great out of the box. Can be used wirelessly or with Ethernet cable. Runs great thru my pioneer home stereo. I plan on buying another.

whatever is there is fairly good . Reception and picture quality is very good. What I do not like is all sports channels are paid channels. There are no free movies channels. There are nor freebies which is a big disappointment.

We cut the 'cable' over a year ago. No more expensive cable or satellite bills. We have four Roku units in our home now. Two of them are Roku 3s. By far my favorite because of the USB that allows playing media files. (pictures, videos, MP3) They ONLY downside is that AVI video is not supported.

We canceled satellite service and went with roku 3 with no regrets. 2 months so far and saving tons of money. works good on slow dsl but works even better on the 4glte broadband. No buffering...clear picture. A La Cart tv at its best!
