Great idea - bad implementation.

If you compare the Roku to the Chromecast you will find it is not worth the additional investment. With ChromeCast one can stream just about anything to their TV {Browser pages, photos/videos in your phone, and much more.} Unfortunately the same cannot be said of the Roku 3. Yes it has some internet channels you will never find yourself watching, but the mainstream apps like Netflix ,Hulu+, and YouTube can be just as easily streamed with ChromeCast using your phone or tablet.
For those video pirates out there streaming projectfreetv to their tvs, I don't condone the use of those things at all. But if you were so inclined to do so to replace your cable - the ChromeCast can stream your browser window ; )
Aside from the remote - I'm not that impressed. My software engineers would do better.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Best purchase I have made for my tv/entertainment room! I watch Netflix, Youtube, and listen to Pandora all on my TV. Easy to set up and once you get through signups...works flawlessly!

Just one little thing

I just wish it had a power button. We had to hard wire it because it was always pulling from the WiFi and as gamers it was causing glitches.

It's not all that but great if it worked

I received this roku but unfortunately it's very sensitive to what kind of router you are using. It didn't work with my router. I see that it is definitely faster and much more user friendly than the roku 2 which was slow and clunky. All together, I would have kept it if it worked with my router.

Simply the best streaming player available!

I purchased this Roku 3 in May 2014 after looking at all the other possibilities. I was very thrilled and delighted to see how much media was now available through this unit. I now use it for Netflix, youtube and many other channels offered and hardly watch my cable tv stations.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Extremely happy with content and ease of use but this is the second Roku unit I've had that seems to crash at least weekly.

This is my third Roku, started with the basic years ago and now the Roku 3.
It gives you access to just about anything you want in TV, Movies & online content. Hula Plus, Netflix and many more to choose from. If you are a member of any of these services, Roku streams it you in great HD quality. One of the best purchases I have made this year.
