We have had trouble with it cutting off ever since the first day we got it. I returned it to the store for a new one and it still cut off with screen saying "no signal" We bought a new router thinking it might be in the router but the trouble was still there/ My daughter happened to just turn the ruko upside down and it stayed on .We decided there might be a short or something in it. It cut off today and I had to unplug it and restart it. Its pretty annoying if I am in the middle of a movie..

I had the original ROKU and decided I would update to ROKU for my Christmas gift. There are so many new features on the ROKU 3. I am very satisfied and pleased that I purchased the ROKU 3. I have recommended the ROKU 3 to all my friends.

Overall, a good unit

I use the Roku to stream, and predominantly use the Netflix channel.
Performance is excellent and the system is easy to use, however, the default Netflix app was redesigned last November and is a significant step backwards. Why is this? Because it's impossible to read, especially on a smaller TV.

The remote is excellent and the headphone function works excellent.

Great player especially when used with Plex

I bought my Roku 3, actually have two of them now, to use with my Plex server. I was originally using an AppleTV2 for this & ran into issues playing 1080p MKV files. The horsepower in the Roku 3 has no issue with this. The Bluetooth remote works great and the headphone jack on the remote comes in handy when watching at night.

It's true I have a "smart" tv, a "smart" bluray player, playstation but really the Roku is more reliable, has all the services I want and it's easier to use.

I upgraded to the Roku 3 mainly for the ethernet connection. It has become the 'go to' device my family uses to watch TV and video. The new interface works well and looks cool.
