Can't do without it!

Love, love, love my roku player! Now I can catch up on all the things I always miss! I get to see shows I used to love and see a good movie anytime I'm ready! Nice job roku!

Easy to set up, easy to operate

I admit, when I bought this, I was worried that it would be annoying or hard to set up. Nope, it was easy. You don't have to be 'net savvy to get it working, it's really simple. It works great. The only thing I dislike about it is that sometimes the picture isn't clear when everyone in the house is using the network, but I don't think that's as much Roku's fault as it is the fault of Fios.
Excellent unit, very small, and easy to operate. what more do you want?

Generally excellent. However, there are places to improve. A sound volume control would be nice, although the device might have to be set for the user's TV. Nevertheless, an automated search could be done, perhaps asking the user to press a button when a steady sound starts varying in loudness. Also, there is no good technical reason why the device has to reboot for changing wireless versus wired mode; the device should default to wired if connected and to wireless when disconnected. (Perhaps non-technical reasons motivate the requirement to restart??) An easy way to get local news and weather would also be nice.

Small TV? Simple Bedroom Toy? Yes and Yes.

I got my Roku 3 a few months ago refurbished from an online deal for an awesome price. I got it, hooked it up and started playing with it. This box is awesome! I was debating between this and a HTPC and I have to say... I'm glad I chose the Roku 3! This box is amazingly powerful. I have a weak N-strength wireless signal in my upstairs bedroom and this little guy pulls 720p video with zero issue. 1080p gets grainy over WiFi (even at a close range) but 720p is more than good for my tastes.
I bought this because I wanted some use for my bedroom TV and did not have a coax cable hookup as an option (or Ethernet for that matter). I wanted a box for the TV only, not an HDMI cable from my laptop (too much hassle). It also needed a remote. The Roku 3 is a perfect fit!
TIP: if you have a clustered wireless network like me, the wireless (WiFi Direct) remote will mess up occasionally and skip in the audio - the phone (I use Android) app remote fixes this issue.
If you want a cheap box to play Spotify from on your TV this works GREAT!
PROS:
-Small shape (can be stuffed anywhere and hidden)
-Strong WiFi chip
-Sleep Mode
-Cool Apps (one has webcams and traffic cams from worldwide)
-Selection of apps (Movies, music, games, etc.)
-Display ability
-WiFi direct remote (audio right in the remote and ability to aim/have it anywhere and still control the Roku)

-1080p gets grainy over WiFi (but 1080p is HARD to push through wireless - that's a TON of data!) not really a con to the Roku 3 but maybe the 802.11 wireless standard itself.

Further evolution and integration needed

Response times too long when switching between sources.
Need a 30 second skip forward and 10 second skip back. Better yet, make the skip times configurable.
Need to be able to see a flat list of content, or search for a specific show/movie, regardless of where it sourced.
Streaming needs to provide the same ease of use and integration provided by convention providers (cable, DishNetwork).

I got this Roku more than 2 years ago, and it is the best choice I made. I enjoy Netflix, The Blaze, Amazon, and more. I have a lot of choices and I like it

Have had for less than a month and we love it! So many choices of programs, movies, TV, and the cost is less than cable or dish. My grandson is crazy for it and so is my husband. Roku is Great!
