My favorite streaming player

I love Roku. It is the best for the variety of content and the headphone jack in the remote. Roku has a lot of channels but Netflix and Amazon streaming are the most important to me. Next for me is Plex. I have a Plex server running on a NAS so I can play video anytime via Roku and if it's late, I can use headphones. I bought one for my Dad and he also uses Amazon streaming. Roku is a computer and sometimes you need to restart it but it works flawlessly 99.9% of the time. I recommend it without hesitation.

It streams very well. The quality of the video is impressive and unlike earlier Roku player it only needs to pause infrequently when the buffer is loading.

Top Notch Streaming Device

I currently own a Roku 3, Apple TV and Google Chromecast. The Roku 3 easily has the largest content selection, however, if you're like me--will you ever watch much of the hundreds of niche offerings? The interface is easy to use & aesthetically pleasing. The headphone feature is a tremendous benefit for my usage after wife/kid goes to bed. Performance is generally snappy, but it does hang/crash occasionally and the reboot procedure is not intuitive. By comparison, my Apple TV has never crashed. The biggest downfall for me is no HBOGo for Comcast subscribers. I realize this is not Roku's fault, but a drawback nonetheless. I give the Roku 3 very high grades...not perfect, but it will probably fulfill most of your needs.

A fast processing speed means less buffering, smooth play back. My wife loves that I can listen with earphones, while she goes to sleep.

Replaced dish with Roku 3. Left all network TV behind and have never looked back. Far cheaper and pretty much everything I want to see either on Amazon or Netflix. Well worth it.
