The Perfect Alternative To Cable/Satellite

We bought our Roku 3 about a year ago and have used it almost every day since then. We stream video from a Plex media server, YouTube, music from Rdio, and play games. It is the perfect device for those looking to watch only the things for which they pay and break out of the Cable/Satellite world.

This is a very nice device. I wish the fast forward and rewinds had a real-time picture of the video content. Otherwise, it's pretty great.

Love it, kinda buggy

This is the 3rd Roku I've purchased and I love it. The things I dislike are 1: It's gets buggy and resets in the middle of a show every so often. 2: My TV is from 2007 (in great shape) and the audio and video become un-synced after watching for 2+ hours. I have to turn my TV off then on again to solve the issue. If I wasn't prepared to buy another TV, I would be more upset about the issue.

Great for streaming and playing games

ROKU has the widest array of channels available and includes games. Angry Birds on the TV is great! The ability to search for a movie across every source available is fantastic. We have one on each TV we own.

Best fit for my needs

I currently have 2 Roku 3's and an original Roku XS (analog video out to an older TV). I love these things, my kids love these things. I use PLEX, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and YouTube mostly. My 4 yr old can navigate using the Controller.
My only wish is that it would play files directly from a NAS instead of requiring PLEX (middle man software/server). However, there isn't a box out there that works as smoothly, reliably and with all the things I watch as the Roku 3.

Roku 3 is Almost Perfect

I really like this device. Of the alternatives that I have tried, it is the easiest to use, and has the best interface. However, for my use, I need more powerful options for playing local media. The DLNA player is spartan, and does not play many formats. For a small cost, Plex is another option, but this creates the need for a separate computer to serve files. If Roku can release a full-featured DLNA option, then this would be a killer device.

Worth Every Penny

One of the greatest inventions in the 21st century. I love my Roku, can't imagine my life without it. I used to pay big money for cable, but only watched a handful of channels. Now, I have my Roku and I get great use out of it. Obviously, I'm not watching everything I used to watch, but in reality, I don't miss having cable at all. I love the features, the channels, and the general awesomeness of owning a Roku.

Bluetooth and headphones - way cool!

I plug in headphones to the remote, walk out to the deck to check on steaks on the grill and I'm still listening to the show I'm watching. I get involved in something and don't want to miss the action, I hit he pause even though I can't see the Roku, because it is bluetooth - radio frequency, not infrared. I love that. Did the same thing unloading groceries from the car. Oh, and this unit is way faster than the Roku 2 we have downstairs. Love the Roku (any version).
