I bought this for Netflix but also for the 1000 FREE shows advertised witch I never found. I'll stick with my ps3.

I "upgraded" from a Roku 2 XS to this because the XS started crashing all the time. Turns out, this one crashes, too! Oh well. I at least I have an extra Roku for the guest bedroom. I love having the boxes, but the freezes and crashes are annoying. At the least, the interface is still better than Apple TV and Roku has access to way more content.

I've had the Roku 3 (and Roku HD) for almost a year now and it started off great but as time passes it gets terrible. It always freezes in the middle of watching a show as well as choosing a channel to watch on the main page, since there is not an "off" button I have to either unplug the device or reset it with a paper clip. It doesn't perform as well as if the ethernet cable was plugged directly into the device (even with an internet booster located in the next room over for an extra WiFi boost) The Roku HD doesn't even work any more so I got rid of it. Overall I am disappointed with the device especially since it is the newest version.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bought this several months ago.. and it has been the best investment I've ever made and I save on my satellite bill because I can watch FREE channels through my RoKu3

Roku 3 is a big step up

I've been using Roku 1 boxes since they first came out but when I needed to get another one I ended up with a Roku 3. I really like some of the new features like access to streaming from the PBS site, a button to easily back up a few seconds and the ability to quickly switch on English sub-titles. I find this really handy when I miss an important part of the dialog in a movie. Even though my original Roku 1 boxes are still working fine I have already replaced another one of them because I like the 3 so much better. The smart TV's and DVD players work OK but they just don't have the same capabilities that the ROKU does.

this is my third maybe 4th Roku, the others were fine and a great alternative to cable but this one is Roku on steroids, very little lag time you can tell the processor is much more powerful than the other Roku untis.
I would recommend this to a friend!
